HDR is looking for an experienced practitioner in Dams, Levees, and Civil Works (DLCW) to join our thriving team in the Northwest area. This is an opportunity to join an established local and regional team. This role leads and manages HDR's Idaho-based team associated with dams, levees, floodplain management, and civil design. Responsibilities include managing staff and staff workload, business class technical development, developing and maintaining client relationships, identifying and winning project opportunities, and delivering successful projects. This professional should be able to perform technical work, mentor junior staff, build teams, collaborate with professionals across HDR, and manage projects with high degree of technical complexity, while complying with QA/QC requirements.

The candidate will produce and coordinate several projects concurrently, while collaborating with our regional and national technical and business leadership. This position offers additional opportunities for travel and working within other regions of practice across Idaho and the United States.

Our Dams, Levees, and Civil Works team focuses on a broad range of challenging projects related to dams, spillways, reservoirs, levees, civil works, hydraulic structures, hydraulic modeling, floodplain management, dam safety, consequence modeling, risk analysis. Our Dams, Levees, and Civil Works team works closely with other disciplines including fisheries, water supply management, pump stations and pipelines, and environmental teams. We work on all-phases of design from appraisal and feasibility analyses to design and construction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand.

  • Professional Engineer in Idaho State or ability to obtain Idaho PE license within 6 months.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse project team; and travel as required for project or other business assignments.

  • Ability to function as an active team player in a diverse multidisciplinary environment.

  • Experience with supervising staff and an interest in client and business development.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
  • 10 years of experience
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
  • Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience
  • Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
  • Works cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
