The successful incumbent of this role will join RTI International's Facilities Management team of professionals.


What You'll Do

JobSummary:Support Teamswith installation, servicing, modification, rebuilding, and repairing ofall campusfacilitysystems and equipment in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations.

  • Support Teamsin standard maintenance programs to prevent failure of such equipment as centrifugal compressors, electrical controls,generators, fire panels, pumps, fans,plumbing systems,and heating equipment.
  • Adhere to safe work practices when lifting, climbing ladders, working in high voltage areas (logout/tagout), confined spaces, etc.
  • Comply with all Policies and Procedures, especially in the areas of burns, cutting, electrical (Hot Works).
  • Operate service vehicles to deliver parts/supplies.Practice safe driving habits and adhere to traffic regulations.
  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment/tools/supplies; identify and properly use hand and power tools.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
  • Share information and communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisor, vendors, and customers (internal and external).
  • UseaCMMSdaily to document actions performed; complete timesheet and required written reports accurately and respond to email messages.
  • Represent RTI in a professional manner in appearance and demeanor when performing job functions.
  • Demonstrate and promote ethical behavior.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related dutieson campus or overnight campus stayssuch as winter storm clean up as assignedto minimize risks to the employee and campus facilities.
  • Support Teams with service, modifying, and maintaining centralizedSiemensBAScomputer systems.
  • Take initiative to promote continuous improvementof workplace safety and environmental practicesby making suggestions for improvement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems with systems and equipment.
  • Read and interpret building drawings andspecifications. Make sure code compliance on all work performed.
  • Regularly assess site and shop operations for safety
  • Maintain on-call status. Respond to emergency calls andafter-hour breakdowns or emergenciesper established procedures.
  • Serve as aSMEwithin theFSS department
  • Guide, direct and coach others regarding application and interpretation of technical issues.
  • Apply and interpret technical knowledge to resolve unique or highly complex solutions
  • Anticipate and proactively pursue facility related issues and/or problems
  • Direct and check the work of other techniciansand vendors/contractors.
  • Make strategic decisions based on levels of risks associated with theequipment and/or system(s)
  • Projectmanageon small Capital and expense projects for FSS
  • Promote compliance of all regulatory standards.

What You'll Need

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma and 5 years of experience, Associate's Degree and2years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have acurrent CFCUniversalEPA license
  • Must have a valid NC Electrical, Plumbing or HVAC License
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of CPR/First Aid.
  • Knowledge of and understanding of HAZMAT awareness including recognition of potential hazardous materials.
  • Works well with MS Word, Outlook, Excel.
  • Work effectively in a service-oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities.
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Work accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Work during adverse weather conditions as an essential employee.
  • Work independently or in teams as well as with diverse group.
  • Obtain proper security clearances as noted by contracts.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must have physical stamina and strength.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

    • Examples include: remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time; use of ladders and lifts; operating a computer and other office machinery; thinking, learning, and concentrating effectively and frequently communicating with other people, both within RTI and outside of RTI; frequently moving about inside and travel between offices and laboratories; frequently conducting laboratory site inspections (if applicable), ability to handle the stress associated in meeting frequent, multiple and tight deadlines, ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week as workload and deadlines may require, consistent demonstration of mental stability and ability to have regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
