Job Summary

The Senior Category Insights Manager will support the Spectrum Brands Walmart Inc. Global Pet Care business. The role sets the strategic direction by translating insights into clear, actionable solutions that deepen buyer partnerships and grow the category. This role will exercise, using the category management process as a decision platform, all initiatives including distribution growth, merchandising expansion, pricing and promotional optimization. Working with Sales and Marketing, this position will provide category management direction, consumer insights, and fact-based selling to strategic business partners while helping to grow market share and profitability.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert in assigned categories and provide thought leadership to the retail customer, outlining strategies to optimize product mix, shelf/display space, and merchandising tools. Leverage various data sources to create dynamic presentations that communicate strategies and achieve objectives.
  • Collaborate with account team and cross-functional teams to develop solutions to business opportunities.
  • Develop category reviews, line reviews, promotional analysis, new item trackers, and related deliverables.
  • Leverage data tools including Scintilla, Madrid, Circana, and other data sources to deliver reporting/insights to senior leadership, advancing company and retailer objectives.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of customer data that includes new distribution and price/promotion effectiveness.
  • Perform strategic competitive analysis by category and brand to capture trends, opportunities and challenges for core business areas.
  • Leverage consumer data to recommend optimal category assortments, flows, adjacencies, and cross-merchandising opportunities.
  • Influence the customer by identifying opportunities and providing potential solutions that align with retailer and company objectives
  • Analyze data to develop understanding how omni-channel purchasing behaviors differ and develop strategy on ways to capitalize on those differences. (Brick & Mortar vs Delivery, Pickup, eCommerce)

Education and Experience Profile

  • B.S. or B.A required
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience handling & managing confidential data provided from syndicated data
  • Preferred work experience includes category management, customer marketing and/or sales experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in analyzing and interpreting data and team/project management experience.

Required Skills

  • Ability to effectively build story telling through data.
  • Ability to function autonomously and make decisions independently working with commercial business unit leaders.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to excel in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/strong organizational skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Scintilla, Madrid, MS Office and Excel, Powerpoint, Circana/Nielsen
  • Knowledge of shelf planogram software (JDA, Apollo, Spaceman, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization.
  • Knowledge of pricing mechanisms, elasticity, and promotion analysis.
