Summary: Responsible for performing sterilization procedures on medical instruments and equipment in accordance with established procedures, infection control standards, industry standards, recommended practices on sterilization, and regulatory requirements.
Does this position require Patient Care? No Essential Functions: Processes specialty and general instruments. Resets instrument sets without error. Decontaminates instruments and equipment according to procedure. Maintains Central Sterile Department stock levels. Prepares and assembles surgical trays and equipment following established tray listings for issue, storage, or further processing. Communicates instrument repair needs to supervisor. Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm The Central Sterile Processing Services (CSPS) department is at the heart of patient care at Mass General Hospital. We play a crucial role in ensuring patient safety and effective care by cleaning, decontaminating, sterilizing, and distributing medical equipment and supplies used in surgeries, procedures, and patient care areas throughout the hospital.
