Position Summary
The RA II will work on various projects under the direction of multiple principal investigators within IJR. IJR's mission is to develop and promote effective policy and practices to prevent mental health difficulties and relieve the mental health burden of children and families living in high poverty urban communities through research, teaching, and direct service. The research associate (RA) will support the research efforts of the ACCESS for Mental Health Lab, specifically a NIMH-funded study titled "Patient Navigators for Children's Community Mental Health Services in high Poverty Urban Communities," which examines the effectiveness of peer-support navigators in engaging families within children's mental health and social service systems.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform surveys, interviews, observations or uses other methods according to established research protocols.
  • Collect, process and analyze data. Summarize research and test results.
  • May assist with study protocol development.
  • Coordinate the ordering, inventory and maintenance of equipment, instruments and data collection and analysis tools.
  • Prepare and contributes statistical data and pertinent information for papers, grants and other documents.
  • Complete required documentation for regulatory agencies.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


  • Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in social science or related field required.
    • A minimum of one year related research experience.
    • Knowledge of research concepts, practices and procedures.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Working proficiency (reading, writing, speaking) in Spanish language (native or acquired).
    • Prior experience with data processing and statistical software (e.g. REDCap, Microsoft and Google suites, SPSS/R), as well as human subjects research (IRBs)
    • Ability to reliably commute to partnering agencies for data collection.


    Benefits and Compensation:
    The previously determined salary range for this position is $23.10-$27.00/hour (commensurate with experience).
