POSITION SUMMARY:

The Clinical Pharmacy Manager is responsible for overseeing the clinical pharmacy functions which support the rationale for safe and effective use of medications. These functions include pharmacy tasks which relate to design, development, maintenance and written clinical interpretation of pharmacy protocols, documents and materials. The manager is responsible for training new hires on all clinical initiatives and helping maintain department clinical competencies, under supervision of the Director of Pharmacy. The Clinical Pharmacy Manager provides pharmaceutical care to patients as a clinical pharmacist is needed.

The Clinical Pharmacy Manager will serve as the PGY1 Residency Program Director (RPD). The RPD is responsible for all key programming for PGY1 residents, including but not limited to, ASHP PGY1 standards alignment, preceptor development, resident recruitment and onboarding, under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy. Assure pharmacy services and activities are carried out to meet goals and standards of the health system and the hospital

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:


  • Oversee training for decentralized pharmacists, new hires and pharmacist shift responsibilities.
  • Coordinate with Pharmacy Operations manager on new hire 60-day evaluations and annual evaluations as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.
  • Develop and implement a training and competency program for all clinical initiatives and maintain records of those completed competencies.
  • Serve as an active participant at local and system committee meetings (Clinical Pharmacy Leadership, P&T committee, etc.) as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.
  • Participate in the hospital P&T committee as directed by the Director of Pharmacy.
  • Participate in hospital committee meetings necessary to enhance practice and patient care.
  • Participate and direct pharmacy quality activities.
  • Contribute to the medication safety program through medication incident reviews, proactive reporting, participating in committee presentations and action planning.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for clinical service expansion for the pharmacy department.
  • Develop and execute goals that align with the strategic priorities of the department and organization.
  • Attends and participates in departmental meetings, in-services, and quality improvement programs.
  • Maintains all required training and education per department requirements.
  • Facilitate residency training program including but not limited to: preceptor development, revision of goals & objectives, ensuring timely completion of resident & preceptor evaluations, longitudinal projects, rotation development & evaluation.
  • Use best practices in formulary and cost control.
  • Perform as staff pharmacist as needed

JOB REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Doctoral Degree in Pharmacy from a college of Pharmacy accredited by ACPE and at least 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience and PGY1 residency.

Compensation Range:

$109,000.00- $158,000.00

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer.
