I. DEPARTMENT INFORMATION






Job Description Summary:
The George Washington University Department of Pharmacology & Physiology is an active research department with federally funded programs in neuroscience and development, cardiovascular pharmacology and integrative physiology, genomics, and oncology. It offers unique pre- and postdoctoral biomedical research training, teaches Pharmacology and Physiology to Medical and Physician Assistant students, and provides graduate courses through the GW Institute for Biomedical Sciences. Its mission is to deliver high-quality education, advance scientific knowledge, and improve human health through cutting-edge biomedical research.

The successful candidate's duties will include laboratory organization and management, mouse colony maintenance and husbandry, and performing and supporting research in the laboratory, including solution preparation, stereotaxic surgeries, immunohistochemistry, and mouse behavior.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in biology, neuroscience, psychology or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team are highly desired.
  • Prior laboratory experience, particularly with mouse husbandry, genotyping, or behavior; stereotaxic surgery.

Hiring Range $18.40 - $23.07
