Employees may work from anywhere within the contiguous 48 states of the United States Travel is up to 20%.Employees will be required to occasionally travel to our corporate headquarters in Fort Worth, TX for in person meetings. As a Sr or Staff Network Software Engineer,you will bring a passion for automation and simplifying processes for your business partners. You will take complex concepts, complextechnologyand enable people whodon'thave the same depth of knowledge to be able to use it and understand it. You will be a teacher of sorts who comes to the table with a unique combination of a solid understanding of infrastructure,networking and virtualizationand automation. Key responsibilities may include: Develop and operatecloud-native systems, networks, and services using GitOps workflows Build and operatenetwork infrastructure and management systems Collaborate with internal application teams to improve infrastructure usability and feedback Help design and run systems that scale across our data centers, edge locations, and public cloud Demonstrateoperational excellence by monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues, including participating in a 24/7 oncall rotation The duties and responsibilities in this posting are representative categories to be used in deciding whether to apply for this position. Minimum of 6+ years of experience working in production network environments supporting large-scale global infrastructures. Hands-on experience managing hybrid cloud networks using AWS and/or Azure. Extensive understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.). Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a remote team environment. Eagerness to learn and grow in the field of network engineering. Expert Knowledge of Switching and Routing Protocols such as Spanning Tree Protocols, OSPF, BGP, VXLAN,etc. Experience developing Infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible. Experience with programming languages such as Python or Go Strong experience with automation using deviceAPI's. Strong experience with Linux, Git,GithubActions, Jenkins,Prometheusand Grafana. Experience with multiple network operatingsystemsCisco IOS,SONiC, AristaEoS, Panorama andPanOS. Experience with VMware AVI, F5 or other Load Balancing Technologies. Experience withfirewallpolicy management. Experience integrating 3rd party systems such as Aruba/Versa SDWAN, Arista, Infoblox IPAM,etc. Understanding of Agile Working Methodology & Environment Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, ora relatedfield. Demonstrated technical leadership, including leading design reviews and providing technical direction across components/teams. Proven ability to mentor and coach engineers, and to create reusable standards/frameworks and documentation that improve team autonomy and decision-making. Able to work now and in the future without BNSF'sassistance(whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining,maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status). Experience in Rail, Shipping, Airline, Logistics, Warehousing, Supply Chain, or other Transportation industries.
