Role and responsibilities

The Operational Planner 5 is accountable for strategic ownership and optimization of end-to-end operational planning across multiple areas or value streams. The role drives cross-organizational alignment, long-term planning strategy, and systemic performance improvements, ensuring robust, scalable, and resilient operational execution.

Operating at a business-critical and enterprise level, the role anticipates structural risks, shapes planning frameworks, and influences senior leadership decisions to enable sustainable operational excellence.

As a Senior Operational Planner, you will:

  • Owns end-to-end operational planning across multiple interconnected domains or business units
  • Works directly with senior leadership and director-level stakeholders
  • Operates with high autonomy, accountable for strategic outcomes and long-term performance
  • Anticipates systemic risks and structural constraints across the planning ecosystem
  • Recognized as a functional or domain authority in Operational Planning
  • Define and drive long-term operational planning strategies aligned with business goals
  • Ensure end-to-end integration across supply chain, production, and logistics planning
  • Translate business strategy into scalable planning frameworks and execution models
  • Lead complex scenario planning and trade-off decisions across value streams
  • Own resolution of cross-functional, high-impact systemic issues
  • Drive root cause elimination at structural and network levels
  • Proactively identify emerging risks across planning horizons (mid- to long-term)
  • Establish governance mechanisms to prevent recurrence at scale
  • Define KPIs and performance frameworks for operational planning effectiveness
  • Drive data-driven insights and predictive analytics to influence decision-making
  • Lead business reviews with leadership, providing actionable recommendations
  • Establish and standardize risk visibility and reporting frameworks
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on operational planning strategy
  • Align conflicting priorities across functions, sites, and leadership teams
  • Influence enterprise-level decision-making through structured insights
  • Lead cross-functional forums and governance structures
  • Define future-state planning systems architecture and capabilities
  • Drive end-to-end integration of planning tools and digital solutions (SAP/IBP, etc.)
  • Set and standardize planning parameters, policies, and data governance models
  • Partner with IT and business teams to develop next-generation planning capabilities
  • Lead large-scale transformation programs and cross-functional initiatives
  • Establish and embed standardized planning methodologies across the organization
  • Build organizational capability through mentoring, coaching, and functional development
  • Act as a thought leader in operational excellence and planning innovation
  • Enterprise-level systems thinking and strategic orientation
  • Advanced data analytics, scenario modeling, and decision frameworks
  • Strong executive communication and influencing capabilities
  • Ability to lead through complexity, ambiguity, and organizational change

Education and experience

To help us tackle the technical challenges we face, you will need experience working on high-tech products and with complex processes.

As a Senior Operational Planner, you will need:

  • Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in operational planning, supply chain strategy, and system integration
  • Demonstrated success in leading large-scale improvement or transformation initiatives
  • Strong background in planning systems, data analytics, and process frameworks
Other information
  • This position is located on-site in San Diego, California and will be working in a cleanroom environment. It requires onsite presence to perform hands-on activities, attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently:

$82,875-124,313

Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.

The Company offers employees and their families, medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to participate in the Company's 401k plan. Employees will also receive eight (8) hours of vacation leave every month and (13) paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
