Reports directly to the Histology Assistant Section Lead. Assures total compliance with TJC and CAP guidelines during all procedures. Must handle biohazardous and infectious material while following proper safety precautions. Works cooperatively with all hospital and laboratory staff through verbal and written communications in order to resolve problems, exchange information, receive instructions, establish protocols, and process information concerning cases.
Assist with labeling, preservation and fixation of specimens. Work closely with technologists to ensure specimens are processed timely and accurately. Monitor reagent and supply inventory. Organize patient specimen and assay worksheets/printouts for testing and technologist review. Use LIMS to upload documents and input critical data or comments. Clean and maintain lab equipment. Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all policies and standards Education 1-2 years of Previous laboratory, healthcare and/or customer service experience required -Good interpersonal and communication skills so as to be able to interact effectively with individuals in the lab and the hospital. -Ability to multitask and work accurately under stress of time constraints and heavy workload demands. -Demonstrates excellent dependability, reliability, accuracy, prioritization ability, problem solving skills, customer service and teamwork.
