Responsibilities: JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for supervising the clinical personnel (nurses, patient care technicians, clinical research associates) for the clinical trials program. Using clinical and leadership skills, this position will develop and supervise the clinical research team and infrastructure required to reach both HonorHealth's and the clinical program objectives. The supervisor assumes responsibility and accountability for incorporating the vision, values, mission and critical goals of the organization. Supervises, assesses, plans, coordinates, facilitates, and evaluates patient care and staff development; determines and maintains unit or program needs and standards (using nursing process and evidence- based information). Provides direct patient care according to needs of the program. The supervisor assists in the development and implementation of department operating procedures for program. Oversees administrative issues to ensure a high level of patient satisfaction and customer service. Represents program in communicating with clinical trial sponsors and clinical research organizations. Facilitates communication between the Program and other HonorHealth departments. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Designs, implements and manages a system for organizing, planning, and controlling workflow of clinical trials program. Develops and implements departmental processes incorporating the Lean Methodology where appropriate and good clinical practice, for the conduct of oncology clinical trials. Fulfill all job accountabilities of an RN in this department. Interviews, selects, and recommends hiring of personnel. Initiates recommendations for changes in classification, salary action, promotion, demotion, transfer, and termination. (Uses evidence-based knowledge in the decision making to improve and maintain high-quality cost-effective patient care). Administers performance evaluation in collaboration with the Manager. Independently administers staff discipline through the second stage (written); participates with management in following stages. Edits and approves time via Laborworkx. Evaluates utilization and availability of equipment, supplies, and space. Monitors and maintains appropriate inventory levels. Contributes to the recruitment and retention of talented staff through positive role-modeling, fostering peer relationships, staff education, and participating in preceptor and/ or mentor programs thereby creating an environment for quality practice. Fosters collaborative partnerships/relationships with medical, nursing, and non-licensed staff. Serves as a resource to others, including staff, patients, families, caregivers, physicians, sponsors, vendors, and visitors. Facilitates inter/intra departmental collaboration, communication and promotes problem solving. Regularly rounds in all areas of the department (investigators, infusion clinic, lab, research, and support staff) to ensure efficiency and seamless patient and information flow throughout the department. Meets with patient and /or family on concerns. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION Bachelors Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN, BScN) from an accredited NLN/CCNE institution Required EXPERIENCE 2 years Registered Nurse (RN) Required 3 years RN (2 years in respective Research area) Required 1 year Clinical Research experience Required 1 year Supervisor Preferred LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification Required Registered Nurse (RN) - License State And/Or Compact State Licensure State Licensure Required Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certified Required Must obtain a certification in their respective area of expertise within 1 year of hire or promotion date for Magnet standards Required Oncology Nurse Certification (OCN) - Certification Preferred We're all in for your career.
