Position Overview

JLL is seeking a Senior Occupancy Planner with interior design expertise to drive strategic occupancy planning and space optimization for enterprise clients' portfolios. This role combines tactical occupancy management with design sensibility to create transformative, data-driven workplaces that optimize space efficiency and support business objectives across building, campus, or regional levels.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Space Optimization

  • Develop and implement comprehensive occupancy plans and move sequencing strategies for designated regional portfolios

  • Leverage interior design expertise to create space assignments and reallocations that balance functional requirements with aesthetic considerations

  • Conduct scenario planning and space utilization analysis to maximize productivity and workspace efficiency

  • Ensure planning alignment with corporate guidelines while enforcing space policies, standards, and design protocols

Client Relationship & Program Management

  • Serve as primary point of contact for enterprise clients' daily operational occupancy requests and strategic planning initiatives

  • Foster critical relationships across multiple stakeholders including Corporate Real Estate, Business Unit leadership, Corporate Finance, Project Management, and Facility Management teams

  • Facilitate seamless transitions from current operating models to JLL service delivery frameworks

  • Participate in quarterly business reviews and annual performance evaluation sessions

Data Management & Analytics

  • Manage monthly reporting schedules and deliverables for people and space data, as well as occupancy metrics

  • Conduct quarterly occupancy analytics and provide strategic insights for client review and decision-making

  • Provide data stewardship for people and space-related data, ensuring accuracy and consistency through quality checks and reconciliation processes

  • Track and report space requests and associated KPIs to measure program effectiveness

Design-Focused Space Planning

  • Apply interior design principles to negotiate space transfers between business units and demonstrate changes in block plan format

  • Conduct building audits in partnership with local onsite teams to verify employee locations, furniture layout, and room configurations

  • Utilize AutoCAD proficiency to create test-fits, space layouts, and square footage calculations that optimize both function and design

  • Recommend innovative design solutions that accommodate dynamic workforce needs and emerging workplace trends

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Real Estate, Design, or related field

  • Minimum 8+ years of experiencein occupancy planning, space management, or facility management

  • Background in interior designwith demonstrated experience applying design principles to corporate workspace planning

  • Proven track record of managing enterprise-level occupancy planning programs

  • Experience in corporate real estate portfolio management preferred

Technical Proficiencies

  • Advanced proficiency in occupancy planning software and IWMS/CAFM platforms (OpenSpace or similar)

  • Strong AutoCAD skillsfor block planning, space layout documentation, and design development

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities (pivot tables, vlookup, complex calculations)

  • Experience with space utilization analysis, reporting, and data management processes

  • Knowledge of office space measurement standards: BOMA, IFMA, or RICS

  • Familiarity with workplace strategy concepts and space optimization methodologies

Design Competencies

  • Understanding of interior design principles, space planning, and furniture layout optimization

  • Knowledge of workplace design trends and their impact on occupancy planning

  • Ability to balance aesthetic considerations with functional space requirements

  • Experience with design software and space planning tools
