Position Summary

The Building & Grounds Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the facility's physical infrastructure, building systems, and surrounding grounds. This role ensures safe, reliable operation of critical systems such as fire protection, HVAC, plumbing, and general plant equipment. The technician performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs while supporting overall plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety/Fire Protection System Maintenance

Monitor, inspect, and perform basic troubleshooting on facility fire systems, including:

Diesel fire pump

Fire hydrants

PIV (Post Indicator Valve)

Riser valves

Fire extinguishers

Eye wash stations

HVAC & Chiller Operations

Operate and maintain industrial chiller systems.

Perform troubleshooting and light repair on HVAC units and air wash systems.

Assist with preventive maintenance to ensure optimal operation of heating and cooling equipment.

Industrial Plumbing

Diagnose and repair plumbing fixtures, including:

Restroom facilities

Sinks

Toilets

Building & Grounds Maintenance:

Complete general repairs and upkeep for building exteriors and interior structures.

Maintain the grounds, including landscaping, outdoor structures, and facility surroundings.

Support seasonal maintenance activities as required.

Shop & Fabrication Work:

Perform welding and metal fabrication for equipment repair or project needs.

Assist with building or modifying components to support operational requirements.

Qualifications:

Experience in industrial or facilities maintenance preferred.

Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, welding, and/or fire protection systems.

Ability to read and follow safety procedures and standard operating instructions.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Physical ability to lift, stand, bend, and perform hands-on mechanical tasks in an industrial environment.

Work Environment:

Primarily industrial facility setting with both indoor and outdoor responsibilities. Exposure to machinery, tools, various temperatures, and standard plant safety conditions.
