About the Job

About the Job:
Conduct cellular and molecular immunology research, using mouse models, to investigate molecules related to T lymphocyte survival, trafficking and function. This will support existing NIH funded research, as well as develop preliminary data for new applications.

Work Arrangement: select one below
*The position is expected to work primarily on-site. Your work location will be in 2-280 WMBB.
*The Department retains the right to modify flexible work arrangement agreements on a temporary or permanent basis for any reason at any time.

Responsibilities:
90% Basic Research
*Design and conduct immunology research
oDesign experimental approaches to test specific hypotheses, identified after discussion with Dr. Jameson (in weekly meetings) and others in the group.
oConduct cellular and molecular experimental approaches to test these hypotheses. This will entail work with laboratory mice, to analyze immune cells in vivo and in vitro, and use of laboratory viral and bacterial pathogens (requiring ABSL2 certification).
oConduct cell transfers and cell isolation from mouse tissues for analysis. Perform flow cytometric and molecular studies (including PCR and RNA sequencing) to investigate relevant immune cells.
oMaintain colonies of relevant mouse strains.
oAnalyze data and present them in various forums (individual meetings, lab meetings, Center for Immunology group meetings).
*10% Preparing manuscripts and grant submission
oWrite manuscripts describing research outcomes for publication, with editing and revision as needed after peer review.
oWrite grant applications based on research data, for submission to NIH and other agencies.

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
Required Qualifications:
*Minimum of 6 years of postdoctoral experience in biomedical research, including at least 3 years of experience in cellular/molecular immunology, involving studies using mouse models.
*At least 3 years postdoctoral experience with flow cytometry, molecular biology and work with mouse models.
*Hold M.D., Ph.D., D.V.M. or equivalent, with postdoctoral research experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
*Experience with isolation of T lymphocytes from multiple lymphoid and non-lymphoid tissues in mice is a preferred qualification.
*It will be valuable to have experience with studies on the factors that lead to mouse lymphocyte cell death and practical knowledge of assays to test mouse T cell functional responses in vitro and in vivo
*Experience with use of laboratory strains of mouse pathogens (viral and bacterial) is an asset.
