The successful candidate:

  • Must be able to work 3 12's, 7:00p-7:30a
  • Provides critical staffing to multiple patient care areas including the Inpatient Unit, Oncology/Specialty Clinic, Quality of Life Center/Internal Medicine Clinic, and Perioperative Services.
  • Administers and monitors patients undergoing sedation/analgesia per physician order and hospital protocol.
  • Ability to interpret and operate cardiac and other invasive and noninvasive monitors, recognize normal/abnormal rhythms/trends, and institute appropriate interventions.
  • Completion of Basic Electrocardiogram (ECG) course in online learning management system.
  • Ability to care for patients with IV lines, central lines, ports, chest tubes, pleural catheters, and tracheostomy tubes.
  • Maintenance and care of patients with an ostomy/ileostomy and urostomy.
  • Administer medications via all routes, using the 6 rights, medication bar scanner and monitoring patient for side effects.
  • Ability to collect blood specimens and blood cultures.
  • Care for, assess and monitor patients with Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) and epidural catheters.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and use of chemotherapeutic agents and medications.
  • Demonstrates competence in chemotherapy administration through ONS.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills to manage complex patient and family needs.
  • Conducts and reinforces patient education, including: treatment plan/regimen, financial implications of care, symptom management, side effects, patient family responsibilities related to self-care, available resources at home or at facility.
  • Assesses needs and coordinates services, inside and outside to meet needs including, but not limited to, medications, equipment and home care services.
  • Ability to care for patients receiving intravesical therapy via urinary catheter.
  • Care and assess wounds utilizing wet to dry dressing, staple and suture removal, surgical tape and wound drain removal.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • 3 years experience in Telemetry
  • Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent
  • Arizona Registered Nurse License or a Registered Nurse License form a Compact State
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification- an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training site, American Safety & Health Institute, or Red Cross BLS certification is required upon hire and renewal every two years. If their current certification does not meet the guidelines, employees will have (30) days from the date of hire to attend an onsite initial BLS course and will be required to renew every two years.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification-Employees will have thirty (30) days from the date of hire to acquire American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification and will need to be renewed every two years. Will not be allowed to provide ACLS for patients independently until AHA ACLS cards are obtained
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) / ONCC Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Certificate Course within 6 months of hire and renewal every two years.
