Job Summary
- Design and build tooling to meet CTP's
fabrication needs
- Maintain digital/electronic data.
- Program and operate CNC equipment
- Analyzes drawings, sketches, and design
data of part to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection
of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates
- Evaluates tool designs and coordinates
with engineering for appropriate changes.
- Analyzes and designs machine holding
fixtures for parts.
- Computes angular and linear dimensions,
radii, and curvatures, and outlines sequence of operations required to
machine part.
- Prepares geometric layout using MasterCAM
software to show location of reference points and direction of cutting
paths.
- Writes instruction sheets, check sheets,
and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine.
- Write programs for multi- axis CNC
milling machines / routers.
- Resolves CNC program and associated
manufacturing issues with all relevant departments.
- Support manufacturing and other
departments as an internal customer.
- Perform cost analysis and tradeoff
improvement studies.
- Create operation sheets, tool drawings,
and detail drawings.
- Responsible for the proper handling and
management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience
in the design, development and application of tools and production methods
related to CNC Machining
- Ability
to manage numerous projects and meet deadlines as required
- Ability
to work independently and a good memory for detail
- Strong
analytical and communication skills and meticulous work habits
- Overtime
and weekend work as needed to support the Customer
- Read and
understand internal procedures and policies
- Understand
and follow through on both verbal and written instructions
- Team
oriented with a continuous improvement outlook
Required Experience and Education
- BS
degree in Engineering; and/or related experience in job function and/or
training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Up to
Three years' experience in a CNC machine shop environment
- Strong
CAD/CAM skills
- Knowledge
of aerospace company specifications and practices
- Technical
writing skills preferred
- Ability
to read and interpret engineering blueprints
- Two
years' experience Masterccam & SolidWorks - Minimum 5-7
years progressive experience in quality management with supervisory
experience, including military, where applicable, and commercial customers
