What You Can Expect

ENGIE Supply & Energy Management (SEM) is responsible for designing and managing energy procurement and risk strategies that optimize cost, limit volatility, and enhance value for the Company and its clients. Within the SEM organization, the Asset Backed Trading (ABT) group is responsible for the pricing and managing the risks associated with the power generation and retail business across the United States. We are looking for a Quantitative Analyst that wants to grow their understanding of power markets while developing trading strategies that maximize a portfolio of renewable, battery, and thermal generation assets.

We are looking for a highly skilled Quantitative Analyst to join our team. This position will be situated in Houston, TX and you will report to the Head of Asset Backed Trading.You will be responsible for analyzing existing positions and creating inventive new strategies to maximize the value of the ABT portfolio.

This role requires a strong analytical mindset and proficiency in quantitative methods. In this role you will:



  • Gain a deep understanding of how power markets function through the optimization of renewable, thermal, and battery assets
  • Build trading strategies and portfolio analysis that enhance the returns on positions stemming from renewable, battery, and thermal generation assets
  • Enhance the existing deal pricing framework to ensure that the financial characteristics of power assets match the physical and market-based reality of the assets
  • Collaborate on inputs for power price forecasts spanning both the short term (within the next seven days) and the long term (within the next 10 years)
  • Evaluate and enhance the accuracy of renewable generation forecasts.
  • Build reporting frameworks to ensure the PnL and positions held by the ABT group are well represented and understood across the organization.
  • Promote best coding practices that comply with general rules and standards



What You'll Bring



  • Bachelor in Science in which you completed course in Engineering, Mathematics or any related field, or equivalent combined education and work experience
  • A curiosity and drive that creates learning and growth for both yourself and your teammates around you
  • Knowledge of data science / statistical techniques
  • Coding experience (preferable C#, R and/or python), object oriented programming skills
  • Familiarity with relational database platforms (Oracle, MS SQL, Postgres)
  • Experience in collaborative software development environment is a plus (version tracking with Git, code reviews)
  • Ability to cooperate and collaborate across all groups in the SEM organization while focusing on team goals



Additional Details



  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy; a minimum of 4 days in the office per week
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies;



Compensation

Salary Range: $63,300 - $96,945 USD annually

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
