JOB SUMMARY This paragraph summarizes the general nature, level and purpose of the job. The Lead Maintenance Engineer provides advanced technical expertise and support to the Facilities Department, particularly during off-shifts, ensuring the efficient and effective operation of building systems. Provides advanced technical expertise, leads training initiatives, oversees complex repairs, supports preventive maintenance programs, and ensures seamless team communication. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The essential functions listed are typical examples of work performed by positions in this job classification. Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct. * Provides advanced technical support and guidance to the maintenance team during off-shifts. Leads troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues, ensuring minimal downtime. * Conducts training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of off-shift maintenance staff. Mentor team members, ensuring they are updated with the latest best practices and safety protocols. * Ensures all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and regulatory standards.Conducts regular safety inspections and risk assessments, addressing any issues promptly. * Monitors work orders, triages and assigns work, trains new members, monitors progress, establishes work standards, and provides input including performance appraisals. * Leads investigations into complex maintenance and technical issues.Oversees and guides comprehensive repair tasks to ensure effective and timely solutions. * Assists in major and minor utility shut down requested by various departments, outside contractors, and in-house shops. * Develops, implements, and oversees preventive maintenance programs during off-shifts. Ensures all preventive maintenance tasks are completed accurately and on time. * Maintains and updates information on the huddle board to keep the team informed about priorities and critical updates, coordinating effectively with shift supervisors to ensure seamless transition and continuity of maintenance activities. * Installs new or replacement machinery, equipment, and fixture following applicable building codes. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying. Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Experience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience. License/Certification: None KNOWLEDGE These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education or licensure/certification. * Ability to operate standard tools, instruments and equipment used on the job. * In-depth technical knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical). * Strong communication skills.
