Position: Road Logistics Manager

Primary Location: USA/Remote-Must have a valid driver's license and ability to travel nationally and internationally (to/from the United States) up to 10-15%

Reports To: Sr. Logistics Leader

Compensation: $95,000-$115,000 + bonus + benefits.

The focus of the Road Logistics Manager (RLM) role is to meet/exceed company service and cost targets through the relationship and performance management of our common carrier partners. This role will work closely with carrier partners and Logistics Purchasing to ensure necessary capacity is aligned and tender acceptance is managed to move Chemtrade products safely and to meet customers' service requirements. This is a key role on the Logistics Operations team which will also identify and lead projects to improve sustainability, develop custom solutions for customer requirements and help Business Supply Chain partners solve challenges.

About This Role and About You

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Common Carrier Performance Management 40%

    Develop and maintain carrier scorecards to highlight KPI trends and use as tool to facilitate performance review meetings and ad hoc improvement discussions
  • Lead cadenced meetings to review performance, determine strategies for KPI improvements and discuss strategic initiatives where carriers' partnership needed (Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Annual - contingent on carrier size in network, performance trending, etc.)
  • Point of escalation for accident/incident investigation and claims pursuit
  • Own common carrier operational results and present to internal stakeholders with clear plans on how to improve going forward
  • Partner with common carriers to troubleshoot issues and determine Chemtrade opportunities for improvement
  • Assist in common carrier accident and incident investigations

Logistics Focal: Business Supply Chain Support 30%

  • Develop and maintain business scorecards to highlight operational KPI trends and use as tool to facilitate performance review meetings
  • Lead cadenced meetings to review performance, determine strategies for KPI improvements and discuss strategic initiatives where business supply chain partnership needed
  • Point of escalation for business to engage for solutions to issues where Logistics support required to meet customer and/or plant needs
  • Partner with Business Supply Chain to drive strategies improving service and/or reducing road operational costs to meet targets

Improvement/Productivity Projects 20%

  • Lead projects to improve common carrier service and/or reduce cost
  • Lead projects to improve sustainability with documentation of progress
  • Provide support and insights into future Transportation Management System (TMS)/Fleet Management System (FMS) implementation

Logistics Purchasing Partnership 10%

  • Help develop and implement carrier strategy bringing operational KPI metrics to the conversation to facilitate the determination of Logistics Service Provider (LSP) engagement levels
  • Partner to review rate/route options to contract volume with common carriers
  • Support RFI/RFQ events with information about site/customer/equipment requirements and insights into carrier performance, growth outlook, etc.
  • Contribute KPI metrics and other insights into any Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) initiatives undertaken to strengthen key supplier ties

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, transportation, Business or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 - 10 years' experience in the chemical industry is preferred
  • 7 years of Supply Chain experience with 3 in Logistics Operations
  • 3 years chemical shipper experience preferred
  • 3 years liquid bulk transport industry experience preferred
  • Experience working with TMS/FMS system(s)
  • Experience working with data visualization tools (i.e., Power BI, Tableau, SAP Analytics Cloud, etc.)
  • Ability to extract data and develop analysis necessary to determine actions necessary for affecting service improvement and controlling costs
  • Training/experience in six sigma, lean manufacturing or other professional supply chain certification is preferred
  • Advanced proficiency using office equipment and office software (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with ERP systems (i.e., SAP) required
  • Demonstrated expertise in specialized areas relevant to the role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and at all levels within the organization
  • Embrace change and facilitating change management principles
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Solves immediate problems; collects and organizes data and information to make decisions; creates plans to address immediate issues; makes good decisions in a timely fashion; considers the needs of working team and sensitive to diversity of differences; applies critical thinking to solve issues or concerns
  • Proven track record of driving process improvements, cost savings or revenue growth initiatives
  • Must have a valid driver license and ability to travel nationally and internationally (to/from the United States) up to 10 - 15%
