Job Description:

About the Role

Microchip's Corporate CAD group is seeking a highly motivated Grid Engineer to help design, develop, and support our expanding grid infrastructure and workflows. In this role, you will work closely with engineering teams and provide technical leadership to ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of our grid systems that support critical Electronic Design Automation (EDA) workloads.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, collaborating with diverse engineering teams, and continuously improving large-scale computing environments.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of existing clustered compute systems and develop strategies to enhance performance, scalability, and utilization.
  • Serve as a primary technical contact for end users, providing guidance on running simulations and promoting best practices across the user community.
  • Design, write, and maintain software to drive, tune, and monitor EDA workloads within the compute grid.
  • Create and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation related to compute grid infrastructure and EDA workflows.
  • Research emerging software and systems technologies to support recommendations and purchasing decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure secure, stable, and optimized grid operations.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Skills and Experience You'll Need
  • Minimum of 2.5 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or High-Performance Computing role.
  • Hands-on experience with job schedulers such as LSF, SGE, RTDA, SLURM or similar.
  • Strong proficiency with Unix/Linux operating systems and file systems.
  • Fundamental programming and scripting skills using csh, Bash, Perl, Python, Tcl, and/or C/C++.
  • DevOps or GIT/Jenkins workflow experience a plus
  • Experience with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools and suites from Cadence, Synopsys, and Siemens.
  • Familiarity with Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence frameworks (e.g.,LLM, TensorFlow) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently identify and resolve compute grid issues.
  • Ability to define and implement processes that maintain system performance and promote best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to build positive working relationships and collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
