DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on providing non-professional nursing care that supports the health, comfort, and daily needs of residents at Southwestern Veterans' Center. This role is essential to maintaining resident dignity, safety, and well-being. As a Nurse Aide, you will perform the following duties:

  • Resident Care Support: Assist residents with daily tasks and activities in accordance with their individualized care plans
  • Observation and Reporting: Monitor resident conditions and communicate changes to professional nursing staff
  • Mobility and Transport: Move, position, and escort residents safely within the facility and to outside appointments as needed
  • Nutrition Assistance: Provide help with meals, distribute nourishments, and support healthy eating routines
  • Safety and Cleanliness: Maintain tidy, organized areas for residents while addressing safety concerns promptly
  • Documentation and Compliance: Record care and services accurately while following all facility standards and requirements

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 75 hours biweekly
  • Work hours are on a compressed schedule, six 12.5-hour shifts, 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM, rotating days, with a 30-minute lunch. You will be required to work every other weekend.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
  • Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
  • This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Previous long term care experience

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
