DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position helps maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout Norristown State Hospital by performing daily cleaning and upkeep tasks. Through your work, you will support high standards of health, safety, and comfort for patients, staff, and visitors alike. As a Custodial Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Floor Care: Dust, mop, strip, wax, and polish floors and clean baseboards in assigned areas
  • Surface Cleaning: Clean and polish furniture, fixtures, lavatories, and window sills
  • Room Maintenance: Perform terminal cleaning of beds, cabinets, lockers, and related items
  • Waste Removal: Gather and remove trash and properly handle infectious waste
  • Facility Upkeep: Replace light bulbs, clean carpets, wash windows, and maintain equipment
  • Outdoor Tasks: Sweep walkways, shovel snow, and prepare spaces for special events

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • May change based on operational needs.
  • This position works every 4th weekend and holidays.
  • Overtime as needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
