Our Private Sector Enterprise has an immediate opening for a full-time entry-level scientist or engineer to join our Compliance and Permitting team. We are seeking a motivated, achievement-oriented individual who can help us fulfill our commitment to deliver client success on each and every project we undertake. You will work with and be mentored by nationally recognized, senior technical staff.

The Environmental Scientist role will assist in conducting regulatory gap analysis to identify areas of non-compliance. The role will support the preparation of permit applications and participate in multi-media environmental audits and assessments. The role will include providing compliance support and reporting to ensure adherence to environmental regulations. Additionally, the role will help develop tools and standards to streamline compliance processes. This role is expected to explain facts, policies, and practices related to the job area with limited authority.



Responsibilities



  • Carry out regulatory gap analysis under supervision.


  • Assist in strategic permit planning.


  • Help with permit application preparation.


  • Participate in multi-media environmental audits and assessments.


  • Contribute to compliance support and reporting tasks.


  • Support agency negotiations under the guidance of experienced personnel.


  • Learn and contribute to environmental liability and risk reduction practices.


  • Assist in the development of tools and standards in compliance and permitting.


  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.



Skills and Competencies



  • Basic understanding of regulatory gap analysis, strategic permit planning, and permit application preparation.


  • Initial knowledge of multimedia environmental audits and assessments.


  • Foundational skills in compliance support and reporting.


  • Awareness about agency negotiation and environmental liability and risk reduction.



Experience



  • Typically, 0-2 years of related work experience in compliance & permitting or related field is required.


  • Encouraged to certify in the SMS Framework in the first six months of being in this role.



Education



  • A bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field or equivalent experience is required.



Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.



Location A: $64,000 - $87,000
Location B: $71,000 - $96,000
Location C: $77,000 - $105,000
