Job DescriptionThe Audiovisual Engineer is a statewide-focused role responsible for the in-house customization, programming, and maintenance of audiovisual equipment. This position leads the planning and execution of large-scale and statewide events, managing equipment sourcing, and providing essential training to AV technical staff. Essential Functions

AV System Programming and Customization

Lead the in-house customization and programming of audiovisual equipment across the statewide network. This includes designing, coding, and implementing control system programs to ensure seamless and intuitive user interfaces.

Statewide Equipment Management

Oversee the maintenance of AV equipment statewide, collaborating closely with AV Technicians to ensure all systems are in good working order. This includes developing preventative maintenance schedules, managing service contracts, and implementing a system for tracking equipment health and repair history.

Event Planning and Execution

Plan and execute audiovisual requirements for statewide events, including high-profile meetings, conferences, and ceremonies. This involves coordinating with event organizers, designing the AV setup, and providing on-site technical direction to ensure all audio, video, and lighting aspects run smoothly.

Equipment Sourcing and Procurement

Manage the sourcing and procurement of new AV equipment necessary for large events and statewide initiatives. This includes researching new technologies, evaluating vendors, and handling the logistics of acquiring and deploying new hardware.

CCAP Integration

Assist with CCAP (Campus Capital Asset Planning) related to AV system integration. This involves consulting on the technical specifications for new construction or renovation projects to ensure AV systems are properly designed and integrated into campus infrastructure.

Technical Training and Mentorship

Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for AV Technicians and Senior AV Technicians on new equipment, software, and industry best practices. Act as a mentor, providing guidance and support to technical staff to enhance their skills.

Technical Assistance

Provide technical assistance and serve as a subject matter expert to other divisional departments, helping them with complex AV issues and projects.

Education, Experience, & Skills

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree.

5+ years of professional experience.

Relevant industry certifications including:

  • AVIXA CTS

  • AVIXA CTS-D

  • AVIXA CTS-I

  • Extron Control Professional

Strong communication skills and ability to read technical documentation.

This position operates in a professional and instructional environment that may include campus offices, classrooms, or lab settings. The role may require occasional movement across campus, participation in meetings, and engagement with faculty, staff, and students to support institutional goals. Work is primarily performed in an office or academic environment using standard technology and communication tools.
