What to Expect
We are looking for a highly motivated engineer specializing in LMR radio network engineering to join our radio program globally. This will be the fourth dedicated role in this space, and you will have the support and backing to drive your initiatives across some of the world's most unique and leading systems. This role reports directly to the Manager within Security Systems Engineering, with a global prevue, including travel of approximately 25%.

The Security Systems Engineering team is responsible for helping Tesla securely design, build, and operate infrastructure across corporate, manufacturing and production environments. You will work on a broad set of efforts including the design and implementation of systems in new sites, ensuring survivability and resiliency is exceptional, driving the feature set forward, and researching the latest in LMR communications. Our radio systems are life safety critical and your work will focus heavily on ensuring our current and future states produce a highly trusted tool for our Security, EHS, and Production teams.

The ideal candidate must be highly detail oriented, learning-by-doing, and be able to break through communication barriers in a way that builds trust across the organization. You will be expected to lead your own workstreams, impact broad change, and buck trends. No technology is off the table and you will have opportunities to design the best systems that blow away our expectations.

What You'll Do
  • Processes Radio Request tickets, including shipping and receiving repair requests
  • Programming of radios, disbursement of hardware requested
  • Maintenance of hardware and parts inventories, organizing and improving the flow of service
  • Services and maintains architecture and engineering work across radio systems at Tesla, participating in radio-systems discussions with internal/external partners
  • Excellent troubleshooting abilities and the ability to learn on the go ensuring seamless communication with public safety networks through technology and MOU's
  • Communicates clearly with engineering and executive leadership on the current state of radio and associated systems
  • Participates in technical planning, cost and risk analyses, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for subsystems and system elements
  • Participates in customer requirements analysis, develops system requirements and defines allocations to lower levels (subsystem, elements and components)
  • Assists other Security Systems Engineering members at times to help execute team goals in dynamic fashion
  • Attend meetings that are early or late to match up with colleagues located all over the world

What You'll Bring
  • 2-5 years of radio and RF systems experience
  • Experienced in Motorola MOTOTRBO radio system and integrations
  • Experienced in dispatch/console systems design and deployment
  • Experienced in Motorola WAVE OnCloud and LMR Interop
  • Competent in Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and Bi-Directional Amplifiers (BDA)
  • Competent in IP Networking, including L2/L3, OSPF, UDP/TCP, Firewalls, CLI
  • Competent RF design and analysis skills
  • Ability to coordinate the activities of a team of vendors and contractors
  • Experience with Configuration Management tools and/or practices
  • Test Equipment knowledge of service monitors, power meters, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, DMM's, network analyzers, and signal generators with an overall knowledge of RF design principles and testing

    Expected Compensation
    $124,000 - $186,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
