This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. FTT will require proof of status prior to employment.

General Job Summary:

Instrumentation Lead Technician will have the technical background and sufficient knowledge to perform all phases of instrumentation planning, sensor installation, sensor verification, documentation, and personnel mentoring.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Lead the installation planning and coordinate installation of various instrumentation sensors in turbomachinery with technician team. Types of instrumentation include static pressure, dynamic pressure, thermocouples, RTDs, strain gages, proximity probes, tip clearance probes, accelerometers.
  • Carry out instrumentation planning and installation for turbomachinery, field applications and production support.
  • Perform calibrations and maintenance of equipment used.
  • Mentor and train personnel on installation and verification methods.
  • Support fabrication and construction of data acquisition systems for test facilities.
  • Research and implement new processes and methods for instrumentation activities.
  • Work with limited guidance and supervision from engineering staff.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

  • Ability to have technical discussions internally and to customers.

  • Must be able to work with customers to define and document requirements, provide budgetary quotes, address technical concerns, and provide project status.


Education and Experience:



  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. College or technical degree optional.
  • 7+ years of applicable experience


Work Environment/Physical Requirements:



  • Work performed in a combination of office, lab and outside environment.
  • Some light physical effort required.
  • Will be required to perform occasional lifting of materials up to 35 pounds.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend and move about the facility.


Personal Protective Equipment:



  • When required in designated lab areas.


Travel Requirements:



  • Some domestic and international travel.
