Overview of the Position:

The Grinder is responsible for the set up and operation of surface grinding machines in an FAA regulated workshop. This critical position will work with a team of engineers and production personnel to resolve issues for our clients from commercial, business, and military markets. Successful candidates must be able to pass a lab-based drug screen and occupational health exam as per federally regulated aerospace and aviation guidelines. This is an excellent opportunity for career growth, and exposure to the manufacturing field for a person with traditional machining experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Perform quality work on conventional operated surface grinding machines
  • Use of measuring and test equipment to ensure all dimensional requirements are met
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines
  • Work from and follow blueprints, diagrams, & written process instructions
  • Lead inspection and document machinery for any needed repairs
  • Make minor repairs on machinery as needed
  • Any other duties as required by the Company



Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Must be safety conscious and can adhere to important HSE policies
  • Familiarity with MS Office, Word, and Excel
  • Demonstrated machine shop equipment training (I.e., CNC machines, lathes, mills EDM, etc.)
  • Shop mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Strong command of the English language verbally and in writing
  • Machine and measure to close tolerances (.0002") as required
  • Interpret complex blueprint specifications, charts, and follow work orders and engineering instructions as necessary
  • Once trained, interpret engineering drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5

Education / Experience Requirements:



  • Must be a US Citizen per FAA regulations
  • Vocational high school or technical school education in machining and machining practices (Certificate of completion required)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 - 4 years' experience manual machining on shop machines

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl;
  • Is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.

  • Is frequently required to talk or listen.
  • Works in moderate noise levels.
  • Lift to 50lbs.
  • FAA & DOT regulated work environment. Must be able to pass required background and drug test.
