Shift:Wednesday - Saturday, 7:00am - 5:30pm Work Arrangement:On-Site Department: Supply Distribution Warehouse Facility: Quarterdeck Building, 2401 Lemone Industrial Blvd, Columbia, MO 65201 * Base Pay Range: $15.81 - $24.92 per hour, based on experience Union Bid Period: 6/29/26 - 7/6/26 The Distribution Technician is responsible for the preparation, transportation, and delivery of materials and supplies to patient care areas in the MU Health Care system. The duties of this position are performed in a health care environment that operates 24/7 and the work must be performed within health care specific requirements. Compliance includes but is not limited to all hospital specific life safety codes, infection control standards to protect immunosuppressed patients, compliance with all Joint Commission and CMS regulatory requirements, adherence to hospital guidelines to ensure patient satisfaction, and the flexibility to meet the business needs of the hospital when coverage is needed. This would include coverage in other positions within the department and on other shifts if needed to ensure core business needs are met. DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION * Stocks ordered supplies and performs inventory checks for PAR sites for disposable and non-disposable items, including sterile processing items. * Performs cycle and inventory counts, rotates stock, removes expired items, monitors out-of-stock levels, and reviews usage data and trends to ensure maintenance and timely replenishment of supplies in accordance with department inventory schedules. Communicates supply needs with affected areas. * Assists customers with supply questions, requests, and concerns. Resolves incorrect orders and completes delivery of shipments to appropriate destinations. * Prepares outgoing shipments by filling, stacking, wrapping, and loading orders. * Prepares chargeable items for distribution and completes appropriate forms for credit charges and other productivity information. * Delivers compressed gas cylinders and liquid nitrogen tanks using approved carrier carts while following established safety procedures. Transports time-sensitive specimens, reprocessed items, radiology films, CT files, and medical records throughout the University Health Care system. Transports supplies and materials for off-site clinics. * Prepares chargeable items for distribution and completes appropriate forms for credit charges and other productivity information. * Receives and processes incoming and outgoing shipments, verifies purchase orders against delivered items to ensure accuracy and quality, and coordinates shipments to and from vendors. * Operates a forklift, carrier carts, and drives cars, vans, and trucks up to 30 ft in length. * Performs general inspection, provides preventative maintenance, and ensures the cleanliness of vehicles, forklifts, and equipment. * Performs routine cleaning, maintenance, and organization of all storage areas, following safety regulations and preventive maintenance standards. * Assists with moving office furniture, equipment, medical records, supplies, and other items. * Assists with safely transferring patients to and from stretchers, beds, and wheelchairs, and escorts patients and equipment to designated destinations on an as-needed basis. Performs transports in accordance with established procedures to ensure patient and staff safety. * Assists with morgue transports as needed, following established procedures. * May complete unit/department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities can be acquired. * Chauffeur driver license; Missouri class E or higher for Missouri residents within (30) days of Missouri residency. * Experience with the preparation, inventory, or delivery of materials and supplies. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. This position is very active and may require ambulating, remaining in a stationary position and positioning self to reach and/or move objects above the shoulders and below the knees.
