Retail Sales Associate I - Gift Shop

Summary:

The Gift Shop Sales Associate (Associate) will assist the Gift Shop Supervisor, Gift Shop Coordinator with the sales operations of the St. Vincent Hospital Foundation Gift Shop and the Cancer Center Gift Shop. Responsibilities include but are not limited to selling, staffing, stocking and maintenance of the Gift Shop. The Associate will support the Gift Shop Supervisor and VP & Chief Development Officer of the Foundation with all fundraising initiatives to support the fundraising functions of the Foundation.

Responsibilities:

• Supports a motivating and encouraging environment to enhance the performance and attraction of the Gift Shop
• Participates in stabling and meeting revenue and cost goals.
• Collaborates with the Gift Shop associates in good business practices which results in a high level of service and customer satisfaction.
• Assists in maintaining Gift Shop security to reduce theft.
• Assists with accountability for the performance of the Gift Shop as indicated by the level of customers comments.
• Responds to customer needs and management requests as appropriate.

Requirements:

Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent required, and at least 6 months of retail experience preferred.

Certification/Licenses:

• N/A

Skills:

• Must possess strong retail skills
• Communicates effectively with a diverse group of people
• Excellent customer service skills that reflect AIDET and other experience best practices
• Maintain a positive welcoming attitude for all guests to have a positive experience while shopping at the Gift Shop
• Be able to work with a broad range of volunteers, guests, patients and associates of different ages and experience
• Have ability to plan, organize and report on Gift Shop operations
• Must be able to operate the Gift Shop in absence of supervision

Experience:

• Minimum of 6 months in retail sales including stocking and inventory control of small retail business.
