Mission Solutions Powering Decision

Join the team redefining defense technology. From engineering systems that save lives to leading programs that change the battlefield-find your place in the future of defense.

Mission Solutions

By joining our Mission Solutions business, you will be a member of a team dedicated to providing innovative solutions that streamline the preparation and execution of intricate, mission-critical operations. We focus on enhancing situational awareness, tactical command and control, and seamless video data exchange capabilities within a dynamic, multi-domain environment.

Job Description Ultra Mission Solutions is looking for Systems and Electrical Engineers to design the next generation of rugged mission-compute solutions, with a particular emphasis on the 3U-VPX space. This is a hands-on engineering role spanning the full development lifecycle from concept and electrical design through mechanical packaging, system assembly, integration, and qualification test.

In this role, you will contribute to the design, integration, and test of rugged and edge-compute systems, working across electrical design, mechanical packaging, system assembly, and integration and test. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to bring certifiable compute platforms from concept through qualification, and you will support design reviews, hardware bring-up, and verification and validation activities.

We are looking for the right team members, not a perfect fit. If you are curious, innovative, and scrappy, we are willing to train the right candidates and help you grow into areas beyond your current experience.

Required location: San Diego, CA

Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM discipline (or equivalent experience)
* 2-8 years of relevant engineering experience (early-career and mid-level candidates encouraged)
* Background in electrical engineering, systems engineering, or a closely related discipline
* Exposure to one or more of: rugged compute, edge compute, system assembly, mechanical design, system integration, and system test
* Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively on a cross-functional team
* Must be able to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance; active clearance preferred
* U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:
* Active U.S. Secret or Top Secret security clearance
* Experience with 3U OpenVPX, VPX ATR chassis, or rugged embedded computing hardware programs
* Familiarity with SOSA, MOSA, CMOSS, or VITA standards in a manufacturing or program context
* Hands-on background in Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) for airborne or defense electronics programs
* Familiarity with ERP or MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent) for inventory, procurement, and logistics tracking
* Hands-on experience with embedded/rugged hardware bring-up and qualification
* A builder's mindset and eagerness to learn across disciplines
