Job Description:

The Senior Manager, Marketing Events leads the strategy, prioritization, and execution of the firm's U.S. events portfolio as a core component of business development and client engagement. This role is responsible for ensuring that events are aligned to firm, practice, and industry priorities; deliver measurable impact; and are executed with operational excellence.

This individual serves as a strategic partner to firm leadership, partners, business development strategists, and other stakeholders. They are responsible for guiding event strategy from concept through post-event follow-up and ROI analysis. The role also leads the continued evolution of the U.S. events model, including intake, go/no-go decisioning, and performance measurement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation.

Event Strategy & Portfolio Management:

  • Lead the development and execution of an events portfolio aligned to strategic growth areas, client priorities, and practice/industry objectives.

  • Partner with practice, industry, and BD leaders to shape event strategies that drive client engagement and pipeline development.

  • Establish and enforce a disciplined go/no-go framework, ensuring resources are focused on high-impact opportunities.

Business Development Integration & ROI:

  • Partner with Business Development and Marketing Strategists to ensure events are fully integrated into broader campaigns and account strategies.

  • Define and track success metrics across the event lifecycle, including attendance quality, engagement, and business outcomes.

  • Translate event data into actionable insights and recommendations, informing future investment decisions and portfolio optimization.

Operational Excellence & Process Leadership:

  • Lead the continued evolution of the firm's centralized event management model, including intake, planning workflows, and execution standards.

  • Oversee event management systems (e.g., Salesforce, Cvent), ensuring data integrity, reporting consistency, and process adoption

  • Drive continuous improvement of event processes, tools, and vendor strategies to enhance efficiency, scalability, and user experience.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management:

  • Manage and develop a team of event professionals, setting clear expectations, standards, and priorities.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to partners and senior stakeholders, providing guidance on event strategy, positioning, and execution.

  • Foster strong cross-functional collaboration across Marketing, Business Development, and firm leadership.

Vendor & Financial Management:

  • Oversee vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance management to ensure quality, value, and risk mitigation.

  • Manage event budgets with a focus on ROI, cost discipline, and strategic investment.

Execution Oversight:

  • Ensure seamless execution of high-profile, client-facing events, including in-person, hybrid, and virtual formats.

  • Provide or oversee onsite support as required.

SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Deep expertise in event strategy, planning, and execution within a professional services environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to connect events to business development outcomes and measurable ROI.

  • Strong analytical capabilities, with experience leveraging Salesforce and event platforms to drive insights.

  • Proven leadership experience, including team development and stakeholder influence at senior levels.

  • Exceptional project management and prioritization skills in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

  • Strong financial acumen, including budget management and vendor negotiation.

  • Excellent communication and executive presence.

EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years of experience in event strategy and management, with increasing leadership responsibility.

  • Legal environment experience strongly preferred.

  • CMP or similar certification a plus.

This position may be filled in the following location(s). The listed compensation range reflects the typical pay for this role, though it is rare for new hires to receive an offer at the top of the range. Actual compensation may vary depending on experience, skills, market conditions, and internal equity.

San Francisco Bay Area compensation range: $176,710 to $279,380 annually

Colorado compensation range: $138,450 to $218,880 annually

Illinois compensation range: $146,110 to $231,010 annually

Los Angeles compensation range: $161,230 to $254,900 annually

San Diego compensation range: $159,180 to $251,670 annually

New York compensation range: $160,640 to $253,980 annually

Washington state compensation range: $146,040 to $230,890 annually

Washington, D.C., compensation range: $157,720 to $249,360 annually
