Job Title: Sr. Product Manager, Product Lifecycle

The Sr. Product Manager, Product Lifecycle will act as the single-threaded business owner for product financial rigor and lifecycle sunset strategy within the Product Lifecycle organization. Reporting to the Director of Product Roadmap, this role bridges product decision-making and financial discipline, ensuring that every device and software feature in the Vivint portfolio is evaluated, priced, and eventually sunset based on rigorous, standardized unit economics.

This is a foundational, 0-to-1 role. You will build the first standardized Product P&L framework used across the product organization, and you will stand up Vivint's first generalized End-of-Life (EOL) process from the ground up. You will partner closely with Supply Chain, Sales, Finance, and core Product Managers to ensure that pricing, component cost, and sunset decisions are grounded in data rather than instinct, and that product leadership always has a clear, current view of financial health across the live portfolio.

Primary Responsibilities

Product P&L & Unit Economics

  • P&L Standardization: Design and roll out a standardized profit-and-loss framework that product teams can use consistently to evaluate the cost, margin, and profitability of any device or software offering.
  • Component & Pricing Strategy: Partner with Supply Chain and Sales to align component costs and sales pricing to margin targets, ensuring pricing decisions are backed by defensible financial data.
  • Financial Performance Monitoring: Build and maintain the mechanisms that track ongoing product financial performance, including margin health, warranty drag, and upgrade subsidy costs, flagging deviations to product and finance leadership.
  • Business Case Development: Partner with the Director of Product Roadmap and core Product Managers to build rigorous, data-backed business cases for new investment, extension, or sunset decisions.

EOL Strategy & Process

  • EOL Process Design: Own the end-to-end design of Vivint's first standardized, cross-functional End-of-Life process, including trigger criteria, governance and approval steps, and a repeatable sunset playbook for hardware and software.
  • Legacy Portfolio Assessment: Partner with the Roadmap team to assess the current live and legacy device fleet, using financial modeling to identify and prioritize EOL candidates.
  • Upgrade & Migration Economics: Model the financial tradeoffs of customer upgrade paths and subsidy structures, balancing customer retention costs against margin recovery.
  • Cross-Functional Rollout: Partner with Sales, Customer Support, and Marketing to build the operational playbook needed to communicate and execute product sunsets smoothly.

Required Skills & Functional Dimensions

  • Financial Modeling Mastery: Exceptional proficiency building P&L models, margin analysis, and unit economics; advanced Excel or equivalent modeling tools required.
  • Process Design Mindset: Proven ability to build a 0-to-1 process or framework from ambiguity and drive adoption across a cross-functional organization.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Strong track record building trust and aligning priorities across Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, and Product without relying on direct authority.
  • Data Fluency: Comfortable working with large, complex data sets to support financial modeling; working knowledge of SQL or BI tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI) is a plus.

Required Education & Experience

  • Experience: 6-8+ years of experience in product finance, FP&A, business operations, or a finance-focused product strategy role, ideally within consumer electronics, IoT, or subscription-based hardware businesses.
  • Lifecycle Exposure: Direct experience building or significantly maturing a product P&L framework, pricing model, or end-of-life/lifecycle process is highly preferred.
  • Cross-Functional Track Record: Demonstrated success partnering across finance, supply chain, and product teams to influence pricing, margin, or portfolio decisions.
  • Education: B.S. or M.S. in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline; MBA preferred.
