Under limited supervision, supports daily HR operations and workplace safety initiatives. This role includes administrative, accounting, and recruitment functions-including onboarding and record keeping-with proactive safety management. You will analyze safety trends to develop training, facilitate Safety Committee meetings, and serve as a trusted resource for both city employees and job applicants. This position requires excellent communication skills, strict confidentiality, and a passion for fostering a safe, collaborative organizational culture.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

- Provides clerical and accounting assistance and support to the Human Resources Director in the coordination of tasks as directed.
- Ensures all HR records and files are properly set up and maintained in accordance with regulatory and records retention requirements.
- Receives and assists the public with employment applications. Provides technical support to job applicants in person and/or on the phone.
- Assists in planning, coordinating, and facilitating regular Safety Committee Meetings to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Researches and selects safety training topics based on the frequency and percentage of workplace injuries to mitigate future risk.
- Maintains close working relationships with all departments to align on and deploy safety activities and initiatives.
- Assists the HR Director in identifying sourcing channels and participating in recruitment initiatives to attract talent for open positions.
- Promotes trust, collaboration, and strong partnerships at all organizational levels.
- Listens and communicates effectively with a diverse workforce, maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
- Assist the HR Director in coordinating New Employee Orientation, ensuring a seamless onboarding experience that reflects the City's culture and values.
- Continually updates orientation materials to reflect changes in policies and benefits.
- Assists in developing and delivering training sessions on a variety of compliance, safety, and supervisory topics.
- Coordinates logistics for training events, including scheduling presenters, reserving spaces, preparing participant packets, and arranging food and beverage.
- Tracks employee training completion rates and maintains accurate compliance records within the Learning Management System.

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Associate's degree in human resources, business administration or related field; plus 3-5 years of experience in an HR related field;or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities. |
