DEPCOM Power, a Koch Engineered Solutions company, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Substation Engineer Intern for Summer 2027. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting substation design and engineering activities for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects. You will work alongside experienced engineers to support the development of high-voltage infrastructure that enables renewable energy generation and grid interconnection. This role is located in Bedminster, NJ.

What You Will Do

  • Assist in supporting the development and review of substation design documents, including one-line diagrams, general arrangements, grounding plans, and equipment layouts
  • Support technical reviews of vendor drawings and equipment submittals for substation components
  • Opportunity to participate in site visits to better understand project execution and cost drivers
  • Assist in preparing engineering calculations and study inputs such as grounding, AC/DC load, and short circuit studies
  • Participate in engineering meetings and help document key decisions, action items, and follow-ups
  • Gain exposure to substation design processes, power systems, and utility-scale infrastructure

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related engineering discipline
  • Eligible for full-time employment on or before Summer 2028
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Exposure to power systems, power electronics, electrical machines, or high-voltage engineering through coursework, projects or internships
  • Familiarity or interest in tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Bluebeam, ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, or PSS/E
  • Prior internship, co-op, lab, or project experience related to power, utilities, or electrical systems

For this role, we anticipate paying $30 hourly. This role is eligible for overtime.
