Overview

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Systems Engineer. This position will be based in our Global Operations & Innovation Center in Wheeling, WV.


Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to support and optimize our On-Prem and cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, with a focus on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Compute, Containers, Storage, and Networking. This role requires hands-on experience managing and troubleshooting On-Prem and Azure-based solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless operations and security.

  • Azure Networking: Design, implement, and troubleshoot Azure networking solutions including Virtual Networks (VNet), NSGs, Virtual WANs, VPN Gateway, Load Balancers, and Azure Firewall.
  • Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS): Deploy and manage virtual machines, availability sets, and scaling solutions.
  • Compute: Optimize compute resources, ensuring efficient use of VMWare, Azure Virtual Machines and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  • Containers: Implement and manage containerized workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure Container Instances (ACI).
  • Storage: Configure and manage Dell Storage, Blob Storage, File Storage, Storage Accounts, and Backup/Recovery solutions. Experience with Rubrik product suite a plus.
  • Experience with zero trust solutions including but not limited to Zscaler (ZPA, ZIA, ZDX)
  • Monitor and maintain Azure environments using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Security Center.
  • Automate deployments using ARM Templates, Terraform, PowerShell, or Azure CLI.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and Security teams to enhance cloud infrastructure security and performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of Information Technology Experience.
  • Proficiency with Windows Server operating systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory
  • Knowledge of M365
  • Some experience with UNIX/Linux is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of Azure Networking, Virtual Machines, Load Balancing, and ExpressRoute.
  • Experience with IaaS, Compute, Containers (AKS/Docker), and Storage solutions.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform, or other automation tools.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools, logging frameworks, and cloud security best practices.
  • Azure Certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305) are highly desirable.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Hybrid Cloud Networking and integration with on-premises infrastructure.
  • Understanding of DevOps principles and experience working with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with stakeholders and translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $93,000.

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
