THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role delivers plumbing instruction and oversees daily training that strengthens both safety and vocational growth. As a Corrections Plumbing Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Plumbing Instruction: Teach plumbing trade practices in classroom and on-the-job settings
  • Training Oversight: Monitor inmate progress, maintain order, and review completed work assignments
  • Work Guidance: Lead inmate work crews and assign daily schedules for plumbing projects
  • Tool Management: Issue, track, and secure tools and materials used during training and work assignments
  • Material Planning: Identify needed materials and submit purchase requests to support plumbing projects

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
  • Work hours are 7:15 AM to 3:15 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,036.00 (before taxes). A higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of experience in the inspection, maintenance, repair, assembly, and installation of pipes, fittings, and fixtures used in heating, water, and drainage systems; or
  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the plumbing trade; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the plumbing trade.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
