This role spans two critical domains: Microsoft 365 collaboration services - including SharePoint, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams - and enterprise data platforms, with a primary focus on Snowflake and related data infrastructure. The engineer combines capacity planning, performance monitoring, and data-driven optimization into a unified discipline, actively leveraging AI-powered analytics, predictive tooling, and automation to get ahead of performance issues, right-size platform resources, and continuously improve reliability and cost efficiency. Responsibilities * Own capacity planning, performance monitoring, and optimization for Snowflake and other enterprise data platforms (e.g., Azure Synapse, Databricks); monitor warehouse utilization, query performance, credit consumption, and storage growth; implement resource monitors, auto-scaling policies, and query governance controls to enforce cost discipline. * Conduct regular performance analysis on Snowflake queries, virtual warehouses, and data pipelines; develop and maintain capacity forecasting models projecting compute, storage, and credit needs based on business demand and AI/ML workload expansion; partner with Data Engineering, Analytics, and AI teams to translate workload patterns into effective capacity strategies. * Own the administration, configuration, and health management of Microsoft 365 services including SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, and Microsoft Teams; manage tenant-level settings, licensing, storage quotas, and governance policies; stay current with Microsoft roadmap changes and coordinate adoption or mitigation planning. * Develop and maintain capacity models for Microsoft 365 services; monitor end-to-end performance using admin tooling, Viva Insights, and observability platforms; identify bottlenecks and drive permanent remediation; implement lifecycle management, archiving, and governance policies to maintain platform efficiency. * Apply AI-powered monitoring and analytics tools across both platforms to surface capacity signals and anomalies; build and maintain automated workflows using PowerShell, Python, Power Automate, and Microsoft Graph API to reduce manual effort; develop automation for capacity reporting, performance alerting, quota management, and platform lifecycle tasks. * Monitor platform health and performance using a unified observability framework; establish performance SLAs, KPIs, and alerting standards; respond to and resolve performance incidents; conduct root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes; develop runbooks and self-healing automation to reduce mean time to recovery. * Produce regular reporting on platform capacity, performance, utilization, and cost efficiency; build and maintain Power BI dashboards providing real-time visibility into platform health; translate complex technical data into clear narratives that enable informed decision-making by technology leadership and business stakeholders. Qualifications * Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake - including warehouse management, query optimization, resource monitors, cost governance, and performance tuning. * Demonstrated experience administering Microsoft 365 services including SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, and Microsoft Teams in an enterprise environment. * Experience in capacity planning, performance monitoring, and optimization for both data platforms and enterprise collaboration environments. * Proficiency with PowerShell scripting, Microsoft Graph API, and Python for automation and administration tasks. * Experience with AI-powered monitoring, analytics, and automation tools across the Microsoft and Snowflake ecosystems. * Solid understanding of Microsoft 365 licensing, tenant governance, and compliance frameworks. * Strong analytical skills - able to interpret performance and capacity data, identify trends, and surface actionable insights. * Experience with Power BI or equivalent tools for building executive-facing dashboards. * Effective collaborator across Engineering, Data, Security, and business stakeholder teams. * Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field. * 4-7 years of experience in platform engineering, IT operations, or data platform administration roles. * 3+ years of hands-on Snowflake experience including performance tuning, warehouse management, and cost governance. * 3+ years of hands-on experience administering SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, and Microsoft Teams. * 2+ years of experience in capacity planning and performance monitoring across enterprise technology platforms.
