About the role

Make timely, accurate, and customer-focused Long-Term Disability claim decisions. Actively get in touch with clinical, vocational, employer, financial, and other relevant internal and external sources to gather necessary data. Evaluate this data against the contract and procedural documents. Perform analysis and consult with peers or management when appropriate. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Employ the claim system fully with detailed and accurate information. Maintain or exceed departmental performance metrics. Stay flexible and responsive. LTD claim decisions handled here can be quite complex. These claims may have long durations and large financial impact, which increases the company's exposure to risk. Create solutions based on research or by reconsidering current approaches. The level of independent judgment required increases over time.

What you will do



  • Make timely, accurate, and customer-focused LTD new and ongoing claim decisions. Contact to collect relevant clinical, vocational, employer, financial, and other information. Assess the information in relation to the terms, limitations, and conditions of the contract and applicable procedural documents and deliver the claim decision as promptly as possible. Document the claim systems with accuracy and completeness while maintaining strong efficiency. Prepare and distribute clear written and verbal communication to various internal and external contacts. Prepare, update, and apply a claim management plan that leads to the most fitting outcome. Remain aligned with regulatory requirements. Demonstrate an above average level of proficiency in LTD product and claim administration techniques. Adhere fully to operational standards. Meet or exceed claim team operational metrics.
  • Maintain a superior level of genuine caring and empathetic customer service throughout all interactions. Take appropriate actions to earn the claimant's and employer's trust and confidence. Anticipate customer needs and take action.
  • Collaborate as a team and support each other with flexibility. Consistently maintain professionalism and integrity to build a positive work environment. Actively foster high morale and demonstrate dedication to excellence.

Compensation

Salary Range: $54,000 - $91,000/ year plus eligibility for annual bonus program.
