Job Summary:

The Managing Director, SoQM Monitoring & Evaluation directs the Firm's monitoring, evaluation & reporting program and provides independent assessment of the effectiveness of the System of Quality Management. The role is not responsible for performing root cause analyses, identifying quality trends, conducting predictive risk assessments, or evaluating action effectiveness, which are responsibilities of the Quality Intelligence & Causal Analysis function.

for the System of Quality Management (SoQM) in accordance with QC 1000, IAASB ISQM 1, and AICPA SQMS 1. This role is responsible for directing activities that evaluate the design, implementation, and operating effectiveness of the Firm's SoQM and monitoring the effectiveness of remediation activities undertaken to address identified deficiencies.

The Managing Director provides leadership over the Firm's monitoring, evaluation & reporting processes, facilitates the assessment of deficiencies and quality-related trends, directs the annual SoQM evaluation process, and supports reporting to Firm leadership and external regulators. The role serves as a key source of objective evaluation and insight regarding the effectiveness of the SoQM and does not have responsibility for designing or implementing the Firm's quality management system or quality responses. The Managing Director maintains an objective and independent perspective when evaluating the effectiveness of the Firm's System of Quality Management and related remediation activities and provides insights and recommendations to Firm leadership regarding opportunities for continuous improvement.

Job Duties:

Monitoring & Evaluation Leadership
* Directs the Firm's monitoring and evaluation program for the SoQM
* Directs activities designed to identify, evaluate, and communicate deficiencies within the Firm's SoQM
* Directs the assessment of the design, implementation, and operating effectiveness of the Firm's SoQM in accordance with QC 1000, ISQM 1, and SQMS 1
* Directs the annual SoQM evaluation process and preparation of conclusions and certifications required under applicable professional standards
* Facilitates the analysis of findings identified through monitoring activities, inspections, root cause analyses, and other quality-related information sources
* Evaluates the severity and pervasiveness of identified deficiencies and their impact on the effectiveness of the SoQM
* Collaborates with others on directing monitoring activities to assess the effectiveness of remediation efforts and corrective actions implemented in response to identified deficiencies
* Provides objective challenge and evaluation regarding the effectiveness of remediation plans and whether corrective actions adequately address identified deficiencies

Risk, Controls & Quality Monitoring
* Collaborates with stakeholders to understand quality risks impacting the Firm's ability to perform engagements in accordance with professional standards
* Evaluates whether quality responses and controls established by process owners adequately address identified quality risks
* Directs testing and monitoring activities related to the operation and effectiveness of controls within the SoQM
* Evaluates compliance with documentation and retention requirements associated with the operation of the SoQM and related monitoring activities

Reporting & Governance
* Directs the preparation of SoQM monitoring reports, annual evaluations, and related communications to Firm leadership and governance bodies
* Coordinates and administers the External Quality Control Function (EQCF) review process (if applicable)
* Assists in the development, monitoring, and evaluation of Audit Quality Indicators (AQIs)
* Assists with PCAOB data requests and regulatory inquiries related to the Firm's SoQM
* Presents monitoring results, evaluation conclusions, significant deficiencies, remediation assessments, and recommendations periodically to Firm leadership as directed by the QMI leader
* Demonstrates thought leadership and an inquisitive mindset to identify trends and opportunities to enhance monitoring and evaluation activities
* Supports continuous improvement of monitoring methodologies, evaluation processes, and quality reporting capabilities
* Performs other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibilities:
* Directs a team of professionals responsible for executing key monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and remediation assessment activities
* Establishes priorities, objectives, and performance expectations for the Monitoring & Evaluation function
* Acts as career advisor, coach, and mentor to managers and directors
* Promotes collaboration across quality management stakeholders to support effective execution of monitoring and evaluation responsibilities

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:
* Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Accounting, required

Experience:
* Ten (10) or more years of public accounting experience, required
* Experience with accounting firm quality management standards, required
* Experience leading audit quality, quality monitoring, inspection, professional practice, regulatory, risk management, or quality management functions, required
* Experience evaluating the design, implementation, and operating effectiveness of quality management systems, controls, or governance processes, required
* Experience assessing remediation activities and evaluating the effectiveness of corrective actions related to quality deficiencies, required
* Experience with PCAOB inspections, quality control/quality management standards, regulatory oversight, or internal monitoring programs, preferred
* Experience preparing executive-level reporting, presentations, and governance communications, preferred
* Experience leading and developing professional teams in a complex organizational environment, preferred

License/Certifications:
* CPA, required

Software:
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, required
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams, required
* Experience with data analytics, reporting, visualization, and workflow management tools, preferred
* Experience with accounting, auditing, and regulatory research databases, preferred

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
* Extensive knowledge of PCAOB, AICPA, IAASB, and related quality management standards, including QC 1000, ISQM 1, and SQMS 1
* Strong understanding of monitoring, evaluation, governance, risk assessment, control testing, and remediation frameworks
* Demonstrated ability to evaluate the effectiveness of processes, controls, and corrective actions and identify opportunities for improvement
* Strong understanding of root cause analysis methodologies and quality improvement principles
* Strong ability of developing trusted relationships with process owners, response owners, and other stakeholders, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages transparency, constructive dialogue, and continuous improvement while maintaining objectivity and independence in evaluating the effectiveness of the Firm's SoQM.
* Exceptional critical thinking, analytical, and professional judgment skills
* Ability to synthesize complex information into concise, actionable insights for executive leaders and governance bodies
* Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
* Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation skills
* Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization without direct authority
* Demonstrated leadership skills, including experience directing teams, developing talent, and fostering collaboration
* Ability to challenge constructively and provide objective, independent perspectives on quality-related matters
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain focus on strategic objectives and firm-wide quality outcomes

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $240,000- $280,000
Maryland Range: $240,000- $280,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $240,000- $280,000
