Graduate Engineer II (EIT), Water/Wastewater Halff is looking for a Graduate Civil Engineer, who has their Texas EIT certification, to join our Water/Wastewater Utilities team in our Houston or The Woodlands, TX offices. The position will be for a General Civil Engineer interested in Water/Wastewater Utility projects including pipeline and facility modeling, planning, process design and construction. What you will do:
- Design civil engineering projects under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer.
- Support Water/Wastewater Utility projects including pipeline and facility modeling, planning, process, design, and construction.
- Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Water/Wastewater projects.
- Perform drafting CAD work.
- Perform calculations and analysis for design projects.
- Assist in the preparation of permit applications and other regulatory documents.
- Coordinate with other team members, including surveyors, architects, and contractors.
- Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies.
- Support and provide assistance to project stakeholders and managerial staff regarding engineering requirements for construction of various designs, modifications, and repairs.
- Uses design software and drawing tools to accurately render and communicate study results and designs; plans and designs other necessary and related systems and improvements.
- Sets design specifications by computing alignment and grade requirements, water flow rates, and other similar parameters.
- Provides input on project plans based on the analysis of relevant materials such as drawings, aerial photography, survey reports, maps, and other geologic and topographical data.
- Drafts reports and presents plans to audiences with a wide range of backgrounds and technical knowledge, translating engineering and scientific information into easily digestible concepts.
- Estimates materials, equipment, and labor needed to determine an estimate of probable construction costs.
Planning: Utility Master Planning & Utility Impact Fee Study.
Pipe Design: Small Diameter (Less than 16 inch), Large Diameter (Larger than 16 inch) & Trenchless Methods.
- Treatment: Water Treatment Plant Design & Waste Water Treatment Plant Design.
- Pipe Rehabilitation: Pipeline Rehab Methods, NASSCO and Utility Impact Fee Study.
- Pumps: Lift Stations & Pump Stations
- Construction: Cost Estimating & Specifications.
- Software: WaterCAD, InfoWater, Openflows / SewerCAD, InfoWorks Sewer, PC SWMM, Civil 3D, Microstation, Open Roads Designer.

Storage Tanks: Ground Storage Tanks & Elevated Storage Tanks.
What you will need:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or ABET accredited equivalent engineering degree (preferably in civil or environmental engineering).
- 1 - 4 years of experience in Water/Wastewater Utility projects and Water/Wastewater Treatment Design.
- Have a current Texas EIT license or the ability to obtain within 2 years of employment.
- Must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or plan on obtaining within six months of start date.
- Proficient in computer-assisted design (CAD) and other design, data recording, and analyzation software.
- Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD is preferred.
- Desired experience with Civil 3D, ArcGIS, WaterCAD, SewerCAD, InfoWater.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar productivity software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Extremely detail-oriented and accurate.
- Solid relationship and team building skills; Self-motivated and strong organization skills.
- Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
- Knowledge of the principles of calculus, trigonometry and other advanced mathematics for analysis, design and troubleshooting in their work.
- Knowledge of local and state codes and regulation related to civil engineering projects and practices.
- Knowledge of the materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings, bridges, roads, and other related structures.
- Able to balance multiple and frequently conflicting objectives and make good decisions.
- Able to monitor and evaluate the work at jobsites to ensure compliance with design documents.
- Thorough understanding of safety regulations related to assigned projects.
- Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to travel to various project sites.
- Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
