About the Role:

The Nurse Practitioner Team Lead will act in a collaborative and integrative practice with a physician and is responsible for the management of care to
patients assigned to include diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and the assessment, implementation, and evaluation of an appropriate plan of care. All activities are performed within the guidelines of protocols agreed upon by the authority of licensure, the medical and nursing divisions, and the medical staff bylaws. Provide leadership and consultation with their respective specialty area through participation in division/department initiatives and mentorship of others. Participate in division/departmental and organization wide initiatives to represent advanced practice nursing, and leverage the role of the advanced practice nurse. The Nurse Practioner Team Lead will work with division leadership and will function in liaison and mentoring roles for advanced practice providers with whom one works while maintaining expertise in their respective clinical service area. A team is defined as a group of advanced practice provider who work together in a given service area. The Team Lead provides clinical leadership and mentoring related to advanced practice and professional development of APRNs or P As for the division. They will serve as a liaison between the division and Advanced Practice Director . The Team Leads will oversee the quality of care and productivity of the team advanced practice providers. Promote education and professional development of the team members by facilitating participation in educational programs. Responsible for oversight of new advanced practice provider onboarding and monitoring orientation periods within their division. Participate as a peer evaluator for team advance practice provider FPPE/OPPE evaluation process.

What You'll Bring:

Minimum Education
Master's Degree Doctoral degree in Advanced Practice Nursing from an accredited University. Eligible for medical staff credentialing. (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
2 years Experience as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Strong knowledge of clinical specialty and services and demonstrated clinical leadership skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong collaborative relationship with administrative, nursing, physician colleagues in division.

Required Licenses and Certifications
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) (Required)
National board certification (Required)
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) (Required)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (Preferred)
Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP) (Preferred)
CDS and DEA in state(s) of clinical practice (Required)

Functional Accountabilities
Strategic Planning

  • Role will work with teams that are focused on redesigning care delivery models, utilizing Advanced Practice Providers while raising the bar on patient quality and safety; accountable for reporting assessments and making strategy recommendations to Director.
  • Role will work with teams to enhance Advanced Provider infrastructure, informatics, equipment, and processes related to technology as they relate to Advanced Practice Providers; accountable for reporting assessments and making strategy recommendations to Director.
  • Integrate Lean into Advanced Practice Provider culture through tools, training, and hardwire principles into our organization to make processes more efficient; accountable for reporting assessment and making strategy recommendations to Director .
  • Contribute to the sustainability and advancement of nursing excellence which translates into on-going Magnet designation.

Financial Strength

  • Identify opportunities for cost containment and reduction related to Advanced Practice Providers.
  • Identify opportunities to examine the financial impact of adding Advanced Practice Providers to care teams.
  • Accountable to organize and maintain database to track projects related to financial strength progress and resource needs.
  • Identify new trends and anticipate broader impact and make recommendations to Director .
  • Prepare periodic summaries and annual reports of projects, metrics, and findings for Director.

Clinical

  • Assess, diagnose, monitor and promote clinical status of each patient and utilize evidenced based practice and medical knowledge.
  • Develop appropriate plan of care.
  • Write patient care orders, prescribe therapy , and provide necessary home care orders as needed.
  • Identify significant changes in patient status using physical exam, lab values, diagnostic tests, and patient/family input.
  • Differentiate between normal and abnormal findings.
  • Perform procedures as needed after obtaining appropriate credentialing.
  • Participate in and leads multidisciplinary patient care and plan conferences.
  • Communicate and escalate clinical/administrative issues as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with nursing medicine, and other members of the healthcare team to regularly ensure quality patient care.

Leadership Specific

  • Perform administrative and report responsibilities as per division.
  • Participate in the APP practice meetings.
  • Attend quarterly work meeting with APRN Director.
  • Responsible for onboarding and orientation of all new APRN and PA providers in their respective divisions.
  • Relay important and timely updates to staff in regard to operations of the APP practice meetings and APP practice at CNHS.
  • Liaison to Division in regard to APP practice and liaison to APRN Director.

The disclosed salary range includes the minimum and maximum rates within which Children's National believes an individual's base pay rate will fall for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the maximum of the pay range. The exact pay rate for this position will be based on a variety of factors in alignment with the Children's National compensation philosophy. These factors are legitimate and non-discriminatory including, but not limited to, the current market conditions; organizational needs; the individual's combination of prior work experience, level of education, knowledge, skills, and other qualifications.
