What to Expect
The Quality Assurance (QA) Site Manager leads the site quality assurance program, ensuring
construction and installation activities conform to engineering designs, industry codes,
regulatory requirements, and Tesla standards. This position directs discipline QA leads and
inspectors, oversees surveillance, audits, and inspection programs, and partners with
construction, engineering, commissioning, and contractor teams to deliver safe, high-quality
project execution and successful system turnover.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage the site QA program, including planning, prioritization, and oversight of surveillance, audits, inspections, and hold/witness point verification in accordance with the project quality plan, ITPs, and applicable codes and standards
- Direct, mentor, and evaluate discipline QA leads and inspectors; set expectations, balance workload across areas, and ensure personnel are qualified for assigned assurance activities
- Serve as the primary QA interface with construction management, engineering, commissioning, contractor QC leadership, and owner stakeholders on quality status, risks, and resolution of systemic issues
- Oversee identification, documentation, trending, and closeout of nonconformances (NCNs); ensure root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions are effective prior to work continuation and system turnover
- Review and approve (or recommend approval of) quality documentation packages, audit reports, and turnover deliverables for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with project and owner requirements
- Plan and lead quality audits and process surveillances of contractor QC programs; evaluate effectiveness of inspection procedures, material control, testing, documentation, and corrective action systems
- Report site quality performance to project leadership (open NCNs, audit findings, ITP compliance, recurring deficiencies, and improvement actions); escalate critical quality risks and drive continuous improvement across the project lifecycle
What You'll Bring
- Minimum of 15 years' quality experience on large-scale industrial with at least 5 years in a QA leadership or site quality management role (client/owner-side preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplined quality teams, interpret technical documents and project quality requirements, and communicate effectively with contractors, engineering, construction management, and project leadership
- Advanced knowledge of quality assurance/quality management systems and construction codes and standards applicable to multi-discipline industrial construction; working knowledge of inspection, testing, and NDE practices as used in field assurance programs
- Proven ability to investigate, trend, and resolve complex or systemic quality issues; report findings and drive corrective/preventive actions through formal project quality processes
- Comprehensive understanding of quality management principles and the ability to apply them through construction, pre-commissioning, and system turnover walkdowns
- Ability to lead effectively in a high-performance, cross-functional organization with tight timelines and aggressive commissioning goals, while maintaining strong judgment under pressure
