Job Description Tria Federal is seeking a Senior Accessibility Specialist to support accessible digital experiences across federal modernization initiatives. This role works with product designers, UX researchers, product managers, engineers, quality assurance professionals, and client stakeholders to integrate accessibility throughout the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate combines expertise in digital accessibility with strong consulting and collaboration skills and understands that accessibility extends beyond compliance to include inclusive, usable, and accessible experiences. The Senior Accessibility Specialist will also use AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve accessibility evaluations, documentation, remediation guidance, and delivery efficiency. U.S. citizenship is required due to federal security clearance requirements. Responsibilities Integrate accessibility into discovery, design, development, testing, and production activities. Conduct manual and automated accessibility evaluations using assistive technologies and testing tools. Review wireframes, prototypes, design systems, Figma files, and production interfaces for accessibility. Identify accessibility risks and provide clear, actionable remediation recommendations. Translate Section 508, WCAG, and ARIA requirements into practical guidance. Advise teams on accessible content, forms, navigation, interactions, components, and design patterns. Support the development of VPATs, accessibility reports, and compliance documentation. Collaborate with client accessibility offices during reviews and assessments. Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, design reviews, and release planning. Contribute to accessibility playbooks, templates, standards, reusable components, and best practices. Promote accessibility as a shared responsibility throughout product development. Use AI tools to support accessibility evaluations, documentation, remediation, and knowledge sharing. Evaluate emerging accessibility technologies and identify opportunities to improve quality and efficiency. Apply AI responsibly with appropriate human review and professional judgment. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience in digital accessibility, Section 508 compliance, accessibility consulting, or a related discipline. Strong knowledge of Section 508, WCAG 2.2, ARIA, and accessible user experience principles. Experience evaluating complex web applications or enterprise systems. Experience conducting manual accessibility testing with assistive technologies and automated tools. Proficiency with tools such as Axe DevTools, ANDI, JAWS, and NVDA. Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary product teams throughout the software development lifecycle. Experience working in Agile development environments. Proficiency reviewing accessible designs, components, prototypes, and interaction flows in Figma. Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern front-end development practices. Experience creating or reviewing VPATs and evaluating document accessibility. Experience contributing to accessible design systems and organizational accessibility practices. Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and nontechnical audiences. Experience supporting or consulting with Federal Government programs. DHS Trusted Tester certification. Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. S. citizenship. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting CMS or other federal civilian healthcare agencies. Familiarity with ARC Toolkit, WAVE, VoiceOver, Accessibility Insights, Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms. Experience working with AI-enabled accessibility tools and workflows.
