Responsibilities Springwoods Behavioral Health, an 80-bed behavioral health facility located in Fayetteville, Arkansas, provides acute inpatient treatment for adolescent, adult, and specialty program for women. The hospital also offers outpatient treatment. Our six-acre campus is adjacent to a 123-acre Audubon Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary, which is held in perpetuity and cannot be developed from its natural state. Visit us online at: https://www.springwoodsbehavioral.com/ Position Summary: The Lead Mental Health Technician (Lead MHT) functions as an active member of the multidisciplinary treatment team, providing continuous supervision, therapeutic interaction, and positive role modeling for patients. Under the direction of the Acute Nurse Manager and/or Registered Nurse, the Lead MHT observes, monitors, and reports patients' physical, emotional, and behavioral status, ensuring timely communication of significant changes. The Lead MHT actively participates in implementing individualized treatment plans, therapeutic interventions, patient care activities, and educational programming. Responsibilities include assisting with the development and implementation of treatment programs, supporting Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), and implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) to promote patient progress and safety. In addition to direct patient care responsibilities, the Lead MHT provides operational support to the leadership team by overseeing unit supplies, coordinating therapeutic and recreational activities, monitoring completion of unit documentation, and ensuring compliance with departmental procedures and regulatory standards. The Lead MHT serves as a resource for Mental Health Technicians, promoting teamwork, accountability, and a therapeutic environment that supports positive patient outcomes. Our Mental Health Technician's promote and restore patients' health by completing the assuring patient safety, collaborating multidisciplinary team members, providing physical and psychological support to patients. The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, interaction, and role modeling to patients. Qualifications Position Qualifications: A minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a residential, acute care, or inpatient psychiatric setting; or An Associate's Degree in Psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a residential, acute care, or inpatient psychiatric setting; or A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate and a minimum of three (3) years of experience working with children in a behavioral health, educational, residential, or related setting. Licensure and Certifications Current Handle With Care Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe). Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced behavioral health environment. Knowledge of therapeutic interventions, behavior management techniques, and trauma-informed care principles. Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills. Ability to lead by example and serve as a positive role model for patients and staff. Ability to maintain professionalism and effective working relationships with patients, families, physicians, and multidisciplinary team members. Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
