The Carnegie Mellon Biomedical Engineering department seeks to transform healthcare worldwide through interdisciplinary engineering innovation and to train future leaders and innovators in biomedical engineering. We are seeking two Research Technicians to join the Cohen-Karni team in the Hybrid-Nanomaterials and Nano-Bioelectronics Group. In this role, you will assist with living pharmacy device development and implantation studies using animal models. You will oversee surgical, experimental, and general daily activities in the Cohen-Karni group. You will be responsible for setting up the experimental apparatus, maintaining inventory, documentation, animal maintenance, data collection, management, and analysis in collaboration with researchers, veterinarians, husbandry, and facilities staff. The Cohen-Karni team is currently working on integrated multidisciplinary research to develop cutting edge science and technologies to enhance bioelectrical devices functionality, performance, and longevity. We will be using unconventional approaches for the design and fabrication of bioelectrical platforms with clinical translation as the ultimate goal. Using unique bioelectrical (physical and chemical) sensors and actuators will allow us to tackle grand biomedical challenges such as disease progression monitoring, controlled therapeutics delivery.
