ECU Health and Acadia Healthcare have announced plans to build a state of the art, 144-bed behavioral health facility that will open in the spring of 2025. The new facility will include 24 inpatient beds dedicated to the mental health needs of children and adolescents.

Job Duties
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine, Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and ECU Health Physicians, are seeking a Board-Certified or Board Eligible Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to fill a full-time faculty position as an Assistant Professor/Clinical Assistant Professor, Associate Professor/Clinical Associate Professor, or Professor/Clinical Professor. New graduates and Visa candidates encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will work in both university and community-based settings and will provide direct clinical care both face-to-face and via telepsychiatry. Care will be provided in outpatient child psychiatry, community health centers, via consultations with pediatric practices, juvenile justice teams, resident clinic supervision and inpatient care.

Fixed term or tenure track position available.

This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System ( TSERS). Minimum Education/Experience

  1. MD or DO from an appropriately accredited institution, or completed foreign medical education accepted and recognized for ECFMG Certification.
  2. Completion of accredited and adolescent residency
  3. Board certified in general psychiatry and adolescent psychiatry
  4. Must be eligible to obtain license to practice medicine in North Carolina


License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
Board Certification or eligibility for board certification.
Eligible to obtain license to practice medicine in the State of North Carolina.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  1. Experience working in clinical settings in a Medical School Department of Psychiatry.
  2. Experience working collaboratively with other mental health professionals as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
  3. Clinical experience working with persons who have intellectual disabilities.
