Job Summary:

Completes mental health assessment and functions as member of a program team providing services to individuals and families with mental health needs in their setting. Provides assessment, treatments and case management for mental health program clients.

Allina Health has a robust Mental Health and Addiction Clinical Service Line that offers the full continuum of care including integration, specialty outpatient clinics, addiction and co-occurring services, partial hospitalization and day treatment, and inpatient care. There are more than 290 mental health and addiction clinicians dedicated to the highest quality patient care across 45 primary care clinics, 6 integrated psychiatry locations, 4 hospital-based clinics, 15 partial and day treatment programs, 15 Allina and affiliated Emergency Departments, and 7 hospitals with 270 inpatient beds. The Mental Health and Addiction Clinical Service Line is led by both psychiatry and psychology clinical leadership, in partnership with operations to advance mental health care for patients across Allina Health.

Key Position Details:

Position will include 4 shifts a week - Every other weekend

  • 1.0 FTE, 10-hour, day shifts
  • Lead groups with an activity focus (ex. Recreation, Health/Wellness Promotion, Symptom Management Skills, etc.)
  • Responsible for planning, implementing, documenting group and activity-based therapy for patients with acute, chronic and persistent mental illness and chemical dependency.
  • Ability to adapt and grade activities based on cognitive, behavioral, emotional needs of the patients
  • Ability to adapt and change therapy plan based on patient needs
  • Previous experience leading groups with patients with neurodevelopment disorders, ADHD, trauma history, autism, depression, and anxiety.
  • Work closely with patient, family, and interdisciplinary team to develop comprehensive and individualized plan of care
  • Prior history working with acute, chronic and persistent mental illness in adults preferred.
  • Training or experience in trauma informed care practices and motivational interviewing is preferred
  • Demonstrated skills in the areas of organization, communication, interpersonal relations, leadership, decision making and problem solving

Additional requirements: Open to Recreation Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Movement and Dance Therapy, or other related fields

Job Description:

Principle Responsibilities

  • Assessment:
    • Assess level of risk to self and others.
    • Assess level of patient functioning.
    • Evaluate for programming needs.
    • Document as required and notify team of risk assessment.
  • Plan and conduct therapies.
    • Assess patient and family needs.
    • Assign patient to specific group and/or individual therapies according to treatment plan.
    • Conduct groups and individual therapies as scheduled.
    • Case manages assigned patients and works with team to provide optimal care.
  • Promotes role in maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors and employees.
    • Follow safety/security procedures for emergency and non-emergency situations.
    • Report and document safety concerns.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Master's degree in psychology or related field required or
  • Bachelor's degree may consider bachelor's, if hired prior to 2010 and have a minimum of 5 years of experience in individual and group therapy required
  • 2 to 5 Years in mental health field required
  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker - MN Board of Social Work preferred upon hire or
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists - National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification preferred upon hire or
  • Licensed Professional Counselor - MN Board of Behavioral Health & Therapy preferred upon hire or
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor - MN Board of Behavioral Health & Therapy preferred upon hire or
  • Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist - MN Board of Marriage and Family Therapy preferred upon hire and
  • BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource preferred within 60 Days
  • Code Green within 60 Days required

Pay Range

Pay Range: $30.39 to $41.65 per hour The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
