Position: Lead Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Position Summary:

Provides supervisory and clinical expertise in the provision of departmental services through a collaborative process designed to integrate services/functions throughout NWTHS. Participates in and supports a process to measure, assess, and improve performance in the area of assigned responsibility.

Effective leadership skills through planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating departmental functions in relation to the UHS and the NWTHS vision, mission, strategic goals and values and in accordance with JCAHO's leadership standards

Operates departments of responsibility in such a way as to meet the fiscal goals of the organization. Implements value added programs and services. Manages the satisfaction of department customers to include patients, employees and physicians through effective communication and appropriate responsiveness to customer issues.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Responsible for the ongoing, effective operation of Respiratory Therapy and for the ongoing assessment and improvement of the Respiratory Therapy department activities. Such responsibilities encompass not only the internal functioning of the Respiratory Therapy department, but also the integration of the Respiratory Therapy department into the overall functioning of Northwest Texas Healthcare System. Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Current Registered Respiratory Therapist license by the Texas Medical Board

Graduate of a 2-year approved AMA School of Respiratory Care or nontraditional degree program

Current Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the NBRC at date of hire

Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire and maintain certification throughout employment

Registered Therapist with 1-3 years' experience to become proficient in all phases of technical and administrative responsibilities preferred

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

Ability to read, write and converse in English

Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors and others

Ability to remain calm and composed under stress

Ability to respond to pages, telephones and other auditory stimulation

Ability to function when exposed to hazardous chemicals and/or biological materials

Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions

Bending, lifting (10-30 lbs), grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing and pulling, prolonged standing and/or sitting

Ability to discriminate color

Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard/metric measurements)
