Job Details:

Purpose

The Pre-Appointment Intake Specialist serves as the initial point of contact for patients checking into UTHA. They will conduct initial intakes, assist with registration and admissions, record patient health history information and provide administration support to help improve the patient experience. This information is entered into our Electronic Health Record (EHR)system. The Intake Coordinator will also update the medical records of existing patients as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial intakes to ensure eligibility of potential patients. Obtain medical histories and personal information of new patients. Update medical records of existing patients.

  • Prepare new patient paperwork. Review documents for accuracy and completeness. Assist with registration/billing questions as needed. Verify insurance and complete admissions paperwork, obtaining accurate complete demographic insurance and medical information.

  • Answer patient questions about the admissions process and patient concerns. Answer questions about the registration process, the UTHA practice, and the medical team.

  • Schedule and reschedule appointments if needed. Inform the patient about any items to bring to the appointment, such as medications and prior medical records.

  • Prepare and maintain patient charts. Comply with the facility's regulations and policies.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED certificate. Patient scheduling experience. Computer and data entry skills. Exceptional customer service and telephone skills. Strong medical terminology/healthcare operations knowledge.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate or bachelor's degree. Experience with health insurance a plus. Spanish/English bilingual communication skills preferred. Applicants should have some experience in an administrative role, preferably in a medical office, and excellent data entry skills. Strong medical terminology skills.

Salary Range

$43,500+ depending on qualifications
