Environmental Services Job Summary

Under general supervision, assures chemicals, equipment, and supplies for Environmental Services and ordered, stocked and inventoried. Prepares requisitions to replenish stock timely, efficiently and accurately. Communicates supply shortages and substitutions timely and effectively. Compiles and maintains records of supply use and expenditures and ensures quality control. Follows and implements all safety guidelines. Complies with regulatory agency requirements. The individual may be assigned to any one of several positions to include: patient area cleaner, non-patient area cleaner, trash technician, special care unit cleaner, and/or others.

Essential Functions:
  • Receives, unpacks, and inspects all deliveries for damaged product and accuracy. Immediately reports discrepancies to supervisor or manager. (30%)
  • Moves shipment to stock, organizes and stores in appropriate bins, shelf areas, and /or storage closets. Helps assure that supplies are properly rotated, and soon-to-expire product are used or removed in accordance with policy. (20%)
  • Prepare and deliver requisitions for all areas of the department to replenish stock timely, efficiently and accurately. (20%)
  • Maintain accurate records and inventory. (10%)
  • Maintains storeroom and storage area(s) cleanliness including sweeping, mopping, dusting and routine deep cleaning. (10%)
  • Maintain chemical, equipment and supply inventories and keep inventory records. (10%)

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED Required

Work Experience:
  • 1-3 years Typically, two years in receiving, stocking, issuing and inventory record keeping. Required

Licenses:

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of inventory management, purchasing, or warehouse operations helpful but not required.
    • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn safety hazards and necessary safety precautions sufficient to be able to establish a safe work environment.
    • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn chemicals and equipment used to clean surface areas sufficient to be able to maintain a clean and orderly work area.
    • Skill in organizing, planning, and prioritizing work.
    • Skill in analyzing and resolving problems related to the work assignment.
    • Knowledge and computer skills to access and process information.
